I have been looking for a new 2 - 4 case, and frankly want something that everyone else don?t have.

Are there any regional cue case makers that do custom work that are shall we say less know and less expensive that the big three. Murnak, Whitten, or Justis? If you know of any that have web-site please post em.

Aleard know about the Wooden Shark case. Unique but pricy.

Custom work is expensive, less known does not always meen less expensive. There was a guy in Atlanta who made some dropdead cases, can't remember his name, and Ribdoner knows a guy too.

I've been eyeing his site for a while trying to decide whether to take a chance on one of his cases--I like the looks of what he has posted and his philosophy of construction. If you get one, please post a review.

Mine is pictured below -- I love it. Gets compliments whenever I take it out, solid tubes inside, great hand sewn leather outside, I expect it to last forever.

Nittany Leather is an AZ member, Rangercap. He makes a beautiful case. I picked up a brown 2x4 last winter. Really high quality.

Where can I find the Wooden Shark case? Been looking for a few months now.

Several years back, at the BCA in Las Vegas, the guy with the Carved Wooden Shark Cases was shopping them around the room for several days (with no luck) ... He was asking some insane price, like $1500, for them and he had two with him ... I understand Mike Massey has one and don't have any idea where the other one went ... They were Cool looking, but very heavy ...

I think I might Try to make a case like this. Might be one hell of a project...
When I get my new tools I saw two nice pices of Oak and Ceader, Huge pices over next door. Hell, I don't have much to do during the week. Interesting...

BTW: Thanks Lisa

Jim Knott from California used to make cases. He did a really, really good job of them. I don't know if he still does any but he would be a good guy to get a case from that isn't well known.

Anyone remember Florida Fred? He used to make really nice wooden box cases? I haven't seen any mention of him in years.

The Shark case was made by Mel somebody or other IIRC - I had his card. Those were something else for sure. His card proclaimed him as a Jump Shot Artist.

There is somebody up north who does incredible beaded soft cases. Soft cases with intricate native American beadwork. I have seen two of them and they were stunning. I don't have a picture on this computer or I would show you.

Other than that - well there have been many I have seen throughout the years that have come and gone. I seem to remember one casemaker from Oklahoma, I never met him but I saw his work a few time. The name escapes me. He did tooled cases with sheepskin interiors I think.

Jack Madden mentioned going to a saddle shop. Look for a place that does boot repair and they can often tell you who the leather workers are in your area. Sometimes these folks will make a cue case just to challenge themselves and you can get nice piece for relatively little money. It helps sometimes if you help them out with the interior. I have seen people buy el-cheapo cases and use the interior to put the new tooled skin on it.

custom case maker

There is a guy in Virginia that makes cases by hand designed to keep collector cues in pristine condition. I have 1 of his that I keep a cue in that seldom see's playing time(40 year old cue - collectors item). He is very reasonable! he took some measurments and built the case - my cost 250.00 - all made by hand - individual tubes hand sewn leather etc.. - if anyone is interested i can get a number for you - all cases are 1 of a kind - made to order - his logo? is ESP in the fredricksburg area. I will try and post a pic

Jim Walker is probably the casemaker from Oklahoma you are thinking of. Only reason I know of him is from going to Dan Trogdon's shop over the years. I asked Dan about Jim, but he wasn't sure if Jim was still making cases. There are pictures of Dan's and his wife's case at: http://www.trogdoncues.com/leather_cases.htm
