HUH?!?!?!?sjm said:I work in the Insitutional Equities Division of a major investment bank. I do strategic planning for major systems development in portfolio accounting for hedge funds. Guess that makes me a bit of a geek, but one day I hope to recover!
renard said:Whats your occupation? Pool players represent a large cross section of America. All walks of life from prominatant sports figures, to dentists, to construction workers... the list goes on and on. In our league we have a Lawyer, a Dentist, a Grave digger, a Chimney sweep, a engineer, and an Elevator mechanic to name a few. The last one represents myself.
I troubleshoot problems when the elevators don't work right. I provide maintainance on a scheduled basis. Perform safety tests to ensure they run as per code. Perform repairs when the elevators are really "Broke but good."
I am also "On Call' one day a week and one weekend a month.
I'm curious to see what everyone else does to pay the bills.![]()
renard said:Are you retired now? In the early part of my career we had union crane operators placing the elevator hoist machines down on thier bedplates in construction. Now I mostly troubleshoot with a meter and a laptop computer! I found it's easier to use my mind instead of my back. Solid State troubleshooting with a computer, it's funny how other mechanics can't even use a computer! Sorta makes me a valued man I guess.
