Yeah he's lost some recently but he's still high up on my favorite players, everyone catches some bad time and they bounce back.

I've heard that many of the top players consider D.O. the best in the World. Heck, he offered Archer the "7" and Archer declined.

There has to be more to that story.

NOONE that has ever touched a cue can spot Archer the 7. Not Efren, not Earl, not Sigel, not Buddy, not Bustamante, and not Dennis.

Somebody might be able to do it for a set or two but in the long run that's too much of a spot for one of the best 9 ballers ever.

The 7 is only a small advantage to the pros, but the mental edge can be great. If you take the 7 and lose......ouch. If you take it and win, you might think you needed the weight to win. If you take it and break even, you still lose IMO. That being said, I don't think it was offered OR refused.

It is in fact true. It was at this year's Derby City Classic. Dennis also ran over 90 balls in the straight pool room on his first attempt ever at playing straight pool.

After learning of the goal of 14.1, Dennis said, "Any ball any pocket? How hard can it be?".

Really. Because I find it hard to consider you a better source on this than John Schmidt. Especially after I remember hearing that his offer of the 7 to any American player specifically excluded Archer and Deuel.

Dennis offered any American player the 7 except Cory and Johnny. If he ever offered Johnny the 7 and stepped up to the plate he could be a rich man if he won. I would bet my house and I am sure many others would back Archer at this game.

Orcollo is very good, but why are you angry about loosing on him? He is not a world champ, there were a few former champion you can bet on, like Immonen ang Hohmann, yeah they lost but would you be more comfortable placing bet on them? How good is Orcollo? Maybe he is more dangerous when gambling that competing?

Um. Not true, yet again. Dennis played in the 14.1 World Championships in 2006. After making it out of the group stage, he went 2-and-out in the double-elimination format.

I once heard Orcullo played the ghost of Willie Mosconi while holding the cue in his teeth. It was his first time EVER on a pool table, and he won 150 to 4.

Ya know, I'm starting--just starting--to get the sense that occasionally things are said on this forum that are less than completely true.

...oh well... At least I can still trust what I hear in the pool room.

I saw Orcullo play in person in February. He was a sight to see. The most fluid player I've ever watched. Watching him run out, it was like the most natural thing happening in the world. Really nice guy too.

I'm sorry that my sense of humor didn't come through on my opening thread post. I guess I should have used some smile faces and big grins.

I was just having some fun. V Cash is monopoly money and isn't worth anything except to have a little fun with it and I was trying to do so.

Orcullo is a great pool player and I have great respect for him. Read http://www.easypooltutor.com/bios11.html and you will like what you read about him.

Even Efren is scared to gamble with him. :-)

He was known as the money king at one time but Yang took that title from him.

My point if I had one to make is that there are MANY GREAT POOL PLAYERS, each capable of performing at high levels in DIFFERENT disciplines of pool. They come from all walks of life and are from many different nations. The number of great pool players is increasing each year and there is no pool player able to dominate all disciplines of pool.
The player who is the best pool player in the world is that for today only. Tomorrow another champion will hold the torch for a little while until someone snatches it from his grasp.

John Schmidt has gambled with Orcullo and won.

I am happy to see Shane Van Boening play so well in recent tournaments and it shows that contrary to what some believe, American pool players can compete with the best of the world's players.

It is my hope that all the players of the world will continue to push our American players to new heights and new accomplishments. The days of one player dominating all of the disciplines, let alone one particular discipline ARE OVER.

Today it is Van Boening, tomorrow who knows. They are all great players and we get to sweat them all.

Play in a professional pool tournament whenever you can.

You should have bet on him in this match yesterday:
Orcollo beat Deuel last night for 3k playing rotation I believe they may be playing again tonight.
Donnie Mills also Beat Montel for 1k
