What do you feel the % of league players vs gamblers here on AZB is? If they play both, count as gambler. Johnnyt

Too vague.

Some play league, some no league but tournaments, some gamble. Some do all three.

For what its worth, I play league. An occasional tournament. And if playing 3-6-9 for $2 is gambling, then I'm a gambler. (I dont consider myself someone who gambles playing pool.)

I would guess probably 80% of members here gamble in some form.

I think you should have just made a private poll for this.

lets have johnny define his definition gambling. betting 2 dollars isnt gambling.

my minimum is you lose or win at least a full days wages for your job for the session.
decent gambling is a weeks worth of wages or income in one play.
big gambling is a months wages.

when gambling it needs to hurt when you lose and be exciting when you win.
if you are betting the cost of a cup of coffee your not a gambler.

It would be difficult to find a game that size for quite a few on here without playing a champion and having no way of winning.

Pretty vague question as noted so can't give any kinda educated guess. I would say though, leaguers that gamble on AZ are probably a million times more likely than those not on AZ. Without a better definition of " gambling " I'd say probably 75 %???. Should be noted " gambling " is going to very hard to define. I'd venture to say that there are a lot of us on here that would NEVER consider putting our sticks together for $5 a game while there are many many people who take that same $5 VERY seriously - regardless of how much money they have or make.

I havent found but one or two league players that would gamble in the last several years

Several of the guys in our APA division gamble.

Again, no one is defining the stakes, and I'm not privy to these guys games here. I do know they play races for cash.

There are also people that play just tournaments and don't gamble or play leagues. I know some people like that

Don't know any pure league players that gamble. Probably afraid to lose their patches! I'll give the 7 out to any league player on a 9 foot, we can adjust.

I posted a thread about SBE action...was buried into the 3rd page by nightfall. It used to be so easy to get action.

Out of every 100 people who play pool regularly in most locations I would guess that 70 to 80 of them are league players.

Of the ones left, most are aging out, which is why league play is so important. I think the player class are quickly becoming extinct.

Don't know what you mean by gambling but you found one. I don't do paychecks though. Hah

Glad you and Al are both there, It'll be nice to get back into it. Seems like everybody in the room is easy to get along with.

Btw, will you be there tomorrow? Think I'm off till they get my contract sorted out. Not 100% sure yet but sounds like I'm off tomorrow too.

Better be careful with that statement lol. I guess it depends on what you mean by " pure ". Does that mean players that only do league, never stepped foot in a pool hall, and would not bet water is wet if their life depended on it?

I do know people in our Masters league that whoever gave them that spot had better at least be pro level. Admittedly these folks would not fit into the " pure " description I listed above.

Off on Wednesdays and usually stroll in around noon.

From what I see only 10% of league players are good enough to gamble and only a small % of them actually do gamble. I like to play short sets for a couple of bucks just to make sure everyone is serious.

I might be living in a bubble though, I hear there is a lot of action at Red Shoes which is not my home room.
