Balabushka...previously owned by Phil Spector

Here's a few lousy photos of a late 60's, early 70's original Balabushka (Spain blank, I think) that once belonged to a man who produced many hit records, Phil Spector. It was given to him by straight pool champ Joe Balsis. The present owner of the cue has quietly wanted to sell this cue for a while. He believes the cue is worthy of a premium price based on celebrity ownership factor--especially now that the original owner is having um, legal problems. I recall the cue being a bit back heavy with a 17-1/2" balance point. I like the overall inlay design. A whole lot of work to do by hand.

Here is the Bushka I once had. It came from Classic Cues and eventually went back there on a healthy trade but it was mine for a while. It is a titlist blank with a Tascarella refinish.

Mark and I came $500 from making that cue mine once. If I only had bought it My hall of fame collection would have been complete.

Marcus-

That is just too cruel, I mean cool, no I mean both! :D :D

What a cue.

ok i finally got my $hit together and shot some pics, and got them emailed to be posted(thanks man i really am that dumb), I put a ebony/ivory SW in some shots just for contrast, a newer cue 00 or 01 with the old stuff(it was just a thought-something I never saw before), I was playing with it and it was on the table and thought it would be intersting in some of the shots, i did the best i could, there is another thread with 5/6 Bushkas that are in this thread, when I get back from Germany I'm gonna go to a photography studio I own and get good shots with light boxes so there wont be any glare or shimy spots on the cues, and some macro work of the detail of some inlays, imperfections, perfections, veneer colors, etc. i'm gonna burn some discs of that project, right now the studio is busy but in 6-8 weeks it will be fine and I'll get in there, I own it but I dont want interrupt the work flow, they have deadlines for press dates.
