Ok, do pros play on equipment that allows for easier draw?

The cloth is fast, and that helps him. Notice that he didn't hit the ball very hard. I think that distance of draw is easily within the ability of anyone who has been playing a year and on standard equipment except for the behind the back part. It might not look as smooth for a relative beginner, but that distance is in no way exceptional and I would not call it a power draw.

Yea. It was the "behind the back" part that impressed me. But i would like to take back my astonishment. I guess i shoulda tried it first before posting. I just tried it a couple of times (behind the back... exactly that shot) and was able to draw back to within 2 diamonds of the end rail on 2 of those tries. So if i can do that, for him it should be like nothing. Oh well. Sorry to have wasted everyone's time. :-)

IDK I think any one of us can make that shot on broken in cloth. The CB was about 2 feet from the OB.

When you can have your hand fairly close to the CB and the OB is close, it does not take that much, especially on new cloth, looks to be 860 or 860HR, wich makes it even easier.

I was playing Tony Ellin in Breaker's at 2 in the morning in a near empty room racing to 6 to my 5. The table had just been recovered with new Simonis. The thing was Tony was transitioning from a Meucci to a deader stick and trying not to use left or right english so he could be more consistent.

I beat him the first two sets and he was not happy with his new methods as he lost the first two sets. The 3rd set he was so mad he pulled out his old stick and on a spot shot power drew the cb dead right, the cb was clawing for traction and when it hit the side rail with right english, the traction hit and the cb came flying back to the top rail hitting at the first top diamond. I started to laugh and he looked at me and couldn't stop laughing either. Naturally, I told him if he was gonna go back to his old ways, I needed more weight. 8-) Btw, that was our last set since we were both tired at that point anyhow and we were only playing for 50 a set. Nice guy and it was a big loss when he died. 8-(

...because i was just watching a 2017 US Open match (8 ball) on utube where Van Boening hit a behind the back power draw the entire length of the table! I know these guys have great strokes and all but that seems pretty extreme to me. He looked very uncomfortable and still drew from the corner pocket to the other end of the table!

New cloth always plays easier, but in this case, that table did not have new cloth, pockets are tighter, and the humidity and heat on that table was the highest in the room.

He stroked it well, simply put.. That table wasn't easy.

Freddie <~~~ and the commentators sucked

I played on that table maybe a day or two after this match while in Vegas for Junior Nationals with my son, it is no faster than other Diamonds with Simonis cloth, but that shot was not too hard with how close the cueball was. Has me curious how well I can draw behind my back now LOL, will have to try it. Balls are of course in great shape there and cleaned, cloth was also clean but not new.

Here are my 4 attempts at the shot! ha ha ha. Made 2, one flew off the table, and one didn't draw as much.

Not bad, when you consider I stink, and I have never in my life played a behind the back shot in a game, and maybe practiced it 10 strokes in 25 years. ha ha.

This is on 5 year old cloth. If I can do it this easily (when I connect), Shane can probably do it 95 out of 100.
