So, in effect the playerrs are being blackmailed into showing up to get paid for money that they have already effectively earned.

If they don't come back like good little dogs and wag their tail at their master Larry and Co. then they won't get paid the money which they have already worked for and are due by any labor laws that exist in the USA.

Here is a word of advice to all of the professionals who are owed money.

1) Keep all written documentation (digital and hard copies) about you being owed this money and being told you will receieve it in Vegas "if" you show up.

2) As a group hire a lawyer that you will then split the costs for as a class action lawsuit.

3) Proceed to have that lawyer draft a letter to the people in charge of Bonus Ball demanding that full payment be made to those that are owed money without any requirements about being in Vegas in person to collect or any further obligations towards Bonus Ball as services for money's owed have already been rendered.

4) After you get paid walk away from Bonus Ball and never look back.

If it was me, I wouldnt trust them. But it's not me and my opinion only goes so far. Never underestimate the players ability to suspend reality. At worse, I'd be boarding a plane to collect my money and then turn around. But these players, some close friends, really want this to work. So, I support them in hoping it turns out good. But again, I'm skeptical.

Confirms what I heard from one of the players. The deal is they get 2/3rds of what they are owed up front and the balance upon arrival. The entire first season will be completed during the first week of November. After he shared this with me all I could say was Good Luck! :wink:

They are filming until all teams have played 9 games Jay. Beginning of November is correct.

So as Celtic mentioned, they are being Black mailed into having to use what little money they will get in the mail as traveling expenses to collect the remaining amount.

Like they have nothing better to do with their lives at the moment possibly.

I would have zero to do with that deal. Larry should pay their travel expenses to fly out but
would doubt that will happen. If he wants them back bad enuff, he should.

Pay in full plus travel and get paid before the camera rolls. Or else Hasta La Vista Baby.

I don't blame the players for making the trip to get their money, but it would be nice if the owners faced some consequences for this blackmail.

You are absolutely correct. I think it is illegal to demand a player be present to receive funds for services already rendered previously.

Lawyers work on contingency, but it's usually 33 1/3 percent -- 25 percent if it's a friend lawyer doing the work.

It is difficult to tell whether you realised my post was sarcasm humour.

Of course I did, which is why I posted what I did. I would guess that if you haven't read any of the Fat Boy, Secret Biz posts in the past re Boner Ball, you may have not caught what I said.

The reference to Johnny Depp was a giveaway.

In re to BB. Kind of burns my butt thinking about how this is going down if what we are reading is even half correct.
All these players wanted was to do what they love and know best and make a fair living from it. I don't know who let who down in the long run or if was a culmination of a lot of factors.

It would seem that there were a few untruths from the beginning re money available for the season.

The players got left high and dry in Vegas the first go round so to speak.

Maybe I am just being cynical ( obviously I don't know the real skinny. No Secret Biz in my life) but I have a feeling that Chibbs is holding a small carrot in front of them to lure them back to play. Once there, spending what little they receive on travel, what are they going to do for accommodations and living expenses. I'm sure all that free popcorn at the arena is gone by now.

Whats it going to be, as in, I have your money and you will get it but lets play and film a little first. Then with PPVs and the network deal that I am still working on will come thru and you will get paid more.

I would just hate to see these guys get hung out to dry twice in a row. Sorry but I don't have a lot of faith in anything that comes out of the mouths of those that were in charge at one time.

I am also pretty sure that Chibbs or any of the others are not living from hand to mouth at the moment. Someone came out of this with a bit of cash and it wasn't the players.
