And if you're just that determined to get a Frey sneaky, why don't you start a WTB thread here, get some offers, and support one of your fellow AZ'ers. If you're that dead set on finding a smokin' deal on a cue that no one knows about, get up off your computer chairs and start hitting up pawn shops in your area, otherwise don't give the guy problems because he let everyone in on a big top secret public auction

As appreciative as some may be for getting "turned onto a deal" IMO it is more likely to drive the price up on an auction (whether the whisleblower has a stake in it or not) so what if its a just a Frey sneaky.. would you have alerted us to a Hercek sleeper? a Tascarella? I doubt it. the market price of the cue is to me irrelevant. some of us do scour ebay and craigslist for these kind of sleeper deals. and just so there's no question, I DID see that auction and was watching it closely.... Who knows what will happen now...but a "deal" is probably not part of the conclusion
trustyrusty said:As I said, I was looking a cases (searched Instroke), and thought some on here would like to have a shot at what could be a good deal. As for the definition of deal - getting something for under market/street prices is a good deal to me. If someone woulda picked it up for $60 with the case, and resold it here for $300 with no other effort than seeing the auction; I'm sure the guy who bought it for $300 wouldn't mind a shot at the auction for $200 or $250....(cuz at that price it's be not worth buying for most of the flippers). I see that I stepped on some toes, and while I think a buyer would like this info, I know there are some who don't want to see it. But, I did think there would be more folks (a majority) here that would like the cue to HAVE the cue, and that's where I miscalculated it seems.
shinobi said:I can see why people are unhappy with these kinds of threads. A lot of people enjoy scouring through the oodles of auctions on eBay looking for deals. To their delight, they find a sleeper deal and someone "ruins their fun" by advertising it for no good reason on AZ. There's no way it can stay a sleeper deal once it has been advertised. Isn't that obvious?
You offer some backwards rationalizations, including the fact that you think it's better if the cue sells for more. Because presumably nobody should be allowed to buy the cue for a good deal, whether they want to keep it or flip it, in your mind.
The comparison to Target clearing out golf products was weak. If you inform people of a sale, the price doesn't go up for others.

buddha162 said:Don't you get it McNeil, this is larger than one auction. This is larger than even the principle of uncovering sleeper auctions.
This is a response to pathetic, disingenuous smarminess. Attention-seeking douchebaggery concealed as public service.

LOL... You are really reaching now (come to think of it you already were... and this is just the next level of absurdity).trustyrusty said:actually with the Target reference you could end up paying more for items (the more people who know about it - the less chance of the product making all the way to the final markdown).
Fortunately we have people like you to save the world.trustyrusty said:Look, the cue/case will sell regardless...I thought some on this board would like a shot at 'em, so I posted a link. If a dozen on here saw the auction (before I posted), then they might not get as good of a deal as they could have, but now if there are 4 dozen interested (that never knew about the auction) THEY could get a good deal.....sure, not as low of a price that the original dozen could have had it for, but most likely less than the price it woulda been listed for on here in a couple weeks....

Pathetic.
