A buddy acquired this cue recently. Anyone have ideas as to the age, value, or model number? Thanks in advance for any help.

It's Adam, not Adams .
Looks like a full-splice Adam cue. Might even be Brazilian rosewood points/handle.
In pretty bad shape though .
Is it straight ?

Sorry, Adam. :-)

I may see it tonight. I'll see if it's straight and get better pics.

Well, change of plans for tonight. I'll see it next week. My buddy says he believes it was straight, but he is going to double check it tonight at pool. Here are a couple more images:

What does it matter if it's a full splice or not?

No cue can yield any difference at all in any manner.

At least that is what some in other threads are saying.

I had a cue that if not just like that one, very, very similar back in the early 80's. Paid about $100 for it then. No idea what it would be worth today or the model number. Was the first "real cue" that I owned.

I'm guessing this cue is a very early Adam design, probably from the 1960's. It may have sold for $25-30 then. Cleaned up and straight and it may bring anywhere from one to two hundred today.

Some are able to appreciate the distinction between the object and the function. Lost on others apparently.

Thank you kindly.

Im am surprised it would sell so low, I love old cues and would probably pay $200 as is.

Thank you both for the input. Doesn't sound like it's worth refinishing.

I would base that on how you like the way the cue looks and hits. If you like the cue and it hits well I would probably refinish it unless you are trying to flip it for a profit. I dont buy cues to turn them over.

I recognize, understand, & appreciate BOTH.

Thank YOU kindly.

I also recognize arrogance, condescension, hypocrisy, & self over inflated egos when I see them.

I also know about the childish games of turning ones words back on them as some supposed sign of intelligence.

I also know the mistakes that new members can make... I made a few that have turned out to be 'everlasting'.

Perhaps we got off to a bad & unrealistic start... but then again... perhaps not.

Then again, perhaps you are not such a really new member. Perhaps time will tell.

And yet don't seem to be able to determine when people are talking about one and not the other. No one claiming that cues act the same, is saying that they look alike, that is just your strawman.

If it will help you with your innuendo, I started posting on pool forums in 1997.

Try the cue to see how it feels you. If you are in the market for one, it feel good, and he wants to sell it for a decent price buy it. Those old Adam cue played nice. They were different than what they make and sell today.

You can get it refinish reasonably and have a nice old full splice playing cue that will last a long time and will probably be better than some of the stuff you can buy today for the same cost.

Look around the web and see what people are paying for old full spliced cues to be "converted" into a player.

The person to whom my post was intended understood what I meant.

Posting on pool forums since the the "beginning of time" would mean what?

You just very recently joined here if you are are not multiple personas.

Can we shake hands & try for a new start or would rather just let it continue to slide down the American Standard?
