The items we have here 1) an old wooden crate used to ship/store cue shafts and other pool playing supplies which were forgotten about for a long time in an older warehouse in Erie, PA. It seems there was some long battle with the Estate of a Dick Shaw who had operated a pool room supply business back in the 1930's and up into maybe the early 1950's; plus, 2) we have a limited supply of these old brown shafts -- only 80 pcs.

The Katz Wood Supply Company is mentioned several times in the Billiard Encyclopedia and, was a major supplier of shaft wood for many of the cue makers....maybe up to around 1960 (see pics).

Jerry Rauenzahn acquired this crate of shafts along with many other pool supplies back in 1991. The crate and shafts have been in a climate controlled room since then; these shafts are still useable — the wood is very crisp and firm, and it has that old antique titlist color. They are approx. 34" in length and conically taper from 15/16" to approx. 1/2".

Here are a couple pics of one (1) of these shafts matched up with an old Brunswick Titlist cue recently converted by -R-.

Jerry will sell these shaft blanks separately; trimmed to 30” in length tapering from approx. .875” to .508” for the sum of $150.00.

If anyone has an interest in this crate or any of these shafts please send me a PM.

If anyone has an interest in this crate or any these shafts please make a reasonable offer via a PM.

I looked at the pics and said to myself,"Wow, what a find".
Scrolled down to Ducs post and found we were thinking alike today.
Good luck with the sales, I'm sure you won't have to wait long to sell these beautiful specimens.

Here's a player Mr. Jerry Rauenzahn built for me from the OLD GROWTH HARD ROCK MAPLE stock that hits like a cannon!!! Ebony Titlist ivory Hoppe, Harvey Martin ivory joint on both sides, not surprisingly this cue gives EXTREME feedback to the player, VERY old growth shaft, and old growth rock maple forearm. All I can say is anyone wanting the feel of the OLD growth hard rock maple needs to jump on these shaft blanks while they can. How many times do you see them available???

Also, Last night I talked to Jerry and he said he would gladly match ringwork and joint pin for the right price for anyone wanting one of these old shaft blanks. I've seen many other builders sell their custom shafts for $500.00 and I know you can do better than this with Mr. Rauenzahn. Give him a call.
