What are the minimum room dimensions for a 9' Gold Crown? You would need a little more for a Diamond , wouldn't you? How much smaller to accomodate an 8' ?

Thanks in advance,

Dick

Dick, room size is based on the playing surface of the pool table. How wide the rails are is not important, for example the 9ft Brunswick Metro with its very wide rails needs no more room to play than a 9ft Diamond ProAm or a Brunswick Gold Crown, as they all 3 have the same 50x100 playing surface.

I use the table plus 10 ft for width and length. Five foot per side for the cue and stroking room.

Decision time !

Thank's a lot guys. I have determined (with your help) that I have room
for an 8'3" X 4' 1 1/2" table. I cannot tolerate playing on any thing less than a 4 1/2' X 9' So, until I buy a bigger house, I am dead in the water.
Master BR is big enough, but that would cost me my bride of 34 years.
It's a close call.

Your measurements equate to 99" X 49.5"
Add an inch and you have the playing area of a 9' table.

If the area for the table is 14.5' X 18.5' a 9' table would fit - altho a bit tight.

Great informatin. Thanks Glen.

PS All I ever did was play on them, I didn't have a clue about the set-up and mechanics. Thanks for your expert advice.

I have a 9' table that RKC is going to setup for me soon, but the room isn't quite big enough....however, I've always wanted a 9' and I'm like you, I don't really want anything less. So I'll work on not ending up on the rails on either end and just try to work around the obstructions. But, it also came down to the fact that I didn't find any oversized 8' Gold Crowns or similar competition tables!

Hey, You guy's have me a little worried here. I have a 7' Diamond Pro Am at the factory waiting for Glen to pick up for me. I have plenty of width but my room is only 16' long. According to that BCA chart, I need a 17' room. Now I just sold a 8' Olhausen mainly because it was a pain in the rear, I wouldn't suggest to anyone to install a table larger then the room permits. No matter how hard you try, that rail shot always pop's it's ugly head. Short cue's are fine but it really slow's the game and the game isn't as fluint as it should be. It really took the fun away. Olhausen web site says a minimum of 16.2 for a 7' table. You guy's famililar with Diamond's (hello Glen, Ray) am I in for any trouble as far as room size goes? Thx,
Rich A

Your gonna be a couple more inches shorter! olhausens 7ft has playfield of 39x78. Diamonds are 40x80. In a 16.0 ft room with the diamond, that would leave you with approx 56 inches to the nose of the cushion to the end walls. A little tight, not crazy.

Agree.
Kind of tight but then again how many shots are dead straight with the cue froze to an end rail.
A cutdown or 48" house cue cue can solve that problem.

Backstroke?

It seems to me that all these room dimension charts leave out the room for a backstroke. It seems to me that you have to have room for that!

Backstroke 6" x 2 = 12"

Length of cue 58" x 2 = 116"

Playfield 100" ( 9 foot table )

116 + 100 + 12 = 228" = 19 feet for comfortable play.

Less than that, and you make way too many compromises.

Naaahhh, Like dartman said, it is a very small percent of balls frozen to rails and being shot straight down table. It is a very small compromise versus your other option of not owning a table. Just be realistic, dont put a 9ft in a 15ft length room. 3 or 4 iches short, go for it. 3 or 4 ft short,
get a bumper pool table.lol
