I used to have the gambling match with Harry Platis and Keith teaming up against Allen and Ronnie had to shoot every other shot one-handed. Great match! Would gladly watch it again....

I wish you well on this hunt. Very little if any video of old-school one-pocket exists. Speaking of Ronnie, i saw him play before i even knew what 1p was. Dude looked like he was playing straight-pool into one pocket. Offensive really doesn't do his style justice, ultra-offense maybe.

THIS^^^ the best defense is a strong offense!

The only video I can think of is Jay's.. Ronnie vs Danny D. Jay has an edited an a full 6 hour version of that two day match.. essential 1P.

That's a tall order.
The only Ronnie Allen video I have even seen is he playing one-handed against
a couple of other players.

You might have to hunt down some rail birds who had videotaped some of these
older matches.

I'm sure someone has some footage somewhere.

I have some

I purchased plenty one pocket videos with several old timers - Jersey Red, Black Bart, Danny D., Grady, plenty others .

It was amazing how many balls RA could move towards his pocket with one poke. I only know of the DD video and the after-hours gambling match with Platis and McCready.

RA came to St. Louis for a few days, I think back in the late 90's. Took a few of the locals for a ride... which reminds me of something an astute gambler once said: A lot of people have lost money to Ronnie. Usually backing him.

Accu-Stats has videos of most of those guys from the early nineties.

Ronnie is in a match against JR Gay, and does commentary on the Marquez/Hall marathon...vows to never do it again.

There are a couple of Bugs matches, a number of Steve Cook matches, Red is in at least one or two.

I don't remember any Eddie Taylor matches.

Railbird videos that were shot in Socal also feature a lot of these old timers but are harder to find, especially clean copies worth watching.

Also.....

Can someone be on the lookout for a match between Steve Cook and Allen Hopkins.

Heard it was a good one as well.

Guy in L.A. named J.J. or Jenks or Jenkins recorded VHS tapes of one
pocket matches on west coast....possibly called "railbird"videos...could
be older players...RA, Cecil Tugwell, Moro, Dickson...?? Jay Helfert may
know....sounds familiar to anyone on here?

Unfortunately JJ Jenkins died last year. He was a real pioneer of pool videography. As I understand it his son has the videos and they will be back...

So digging through a closet I found a box of vhs tapes, I was looking for the box because I knew there were a number of tapes from an event held at the Golden 8 Ball in Phoenix in 1989. Well in the box I found a few one pocket tapes too, Ronnie Allen vs JR Gay, Buddy Hall vs Danny Medina, Corey Duel vs Parica, and Bugs Ruckers vs Parica. I don't know what the quality of the video is going to be, but I will attempt to convert the vhs to computer files in order to post.

that would be great
thanks to briana brown

if they could be put on dvd I would like to buy a copy
