Olhausen Champion Tables...

Nope, no aggravation here. I left a message for Brian, so hopefully he'll get back to me tomorrow.

If not... The Gold Crown WINS!!!

I just saw this guy in the main forum selling some Gold Crown's (Chicago area) if you end up considering that model.

I had a pool room with Olhausen Championship Pros that I thought were pretty good tables that played very good. That being said, my first choice as a personal home table is a Diamond Pro-Am or Professional, then a Brunswick Gold Crown. If you are serious about the game then the extra cost is worth it IMO, but if you are not as passionate about needing to have the very best then the Olhausen is not a bad table and would probably be plenty good for you.

A good table mechanic who sets it up right will make a ton of difference no matter what table you end up getting.

you can get the best of two worlds with a Diamond ask them aboutthere lease option.

I belive its still 60 months @ $100 amonth the last month is a $1.00 then you own it out right. Call Diamond and they can explain it right but I gave you the basics which are very close.

I have to agree with everyone else here. I love Diamonds and would purchase a Diamond if I was in the market for a new pool table; however, between a Gold Crown and an Olhausen, I would go for the Gold Crown. The extra dollars would be worth it and I would be happy to pay even more for a Diamond.

I have an Olhausen and had the same problem as described by other posters with the corner pockets. However, I had RKC work on my pockets and they play much, much better now than they did before. I had them tightened to 4.5" and they play much easier (truer is probably a better word) than they did when they were wider.

I am very happy with my table now; however, they have had the RKC treatment, which makes it play much better than before. Having said that, I would still go for a Diamond if I were buying a new table based on playing on Diamonds in the past.

PM sent to you good sir...I need to know what he did!

Hey guys, just a heads up on the situation.

I got ahold of Brian at Diamond, and he needs to get some information (pictures, actually) of the layout of the yard at the new place to see if he can get a Pro-Am table down there. That will give him an idea of whether we can go with the 1-piece slate, or if we have to go with the 3 pc.

Either way, I think I like the way the Diamond option is working out. Especially since there is a room in Fargo that is going to be getting them in early June. This way they'll be able to do my install at the same time.

Not bad, huh???

Is it the same price for 3 piece slate?

Is it the same price for 3 piece slate?

I don't know, as I won't get an actual price until next week.

There is a difference in setup/installation though. The table with the one piece slate is pre-assembled, so they just come in with a cart and drop it where I want it.

There is a LOT more set up time required if they have to assemble the table in the home, so the fee is about 3-4X as much due to the time required.

If you're just asking if the 3 piece slate table is cheaper than a 1 piece table, that I don't know.

Dakota,

Sounds great. One thing is for sure, you will not wish you had bought something else a year from now.

Are you going for the pro cut pockets? And assuming you can specify the tightness, what are you planning to do pocket size-wise? I read somewhere around here recently that the when playing on the diamond pro-cuts the professionals play 4 1/2" pockets. I think RKC posted that.

Also, are you doing that lease thingy? That sounded interesting.

I'm still undecided about the Pro cut pockets, but I'm leaning that way. I figure if I'm going to have the best table, I might as well make it challenging to the point that anything else feels like a toy.

I'm not a big fan of leases, but it doesn't sound like this is a true lease program. By that I mean with a car lease, you pay less per month than if you would have financed it for the same time perious, but you have an ending balance. The Diamond program basically sounds like a "Rent to own" program where you just pay some each month then you own it after 4 or 5 years. Regardless though, if I can get a better cash deal, than that's what I plan to go with. When we sell the town home we're in now, we'll have more than enough equity to pay off everything we bought or would need for the new house (from furniture to a lawn), so the table will get paid off as well. The other town homes in our association have sold in anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks, so I don't think I'll have to worry about the financing part!

Looks like Pro cut it is!

Thanks again for your help guys. I really appreciate it.

I'll be sure and post pictures when all is said and done.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm.............. Thanks, but no thanks!!!!

I love my table. If you're ever out to L.A. be sure to look me up and we can play a little 9 ball~!!

My GCI has holes on the perimeter of the slates only and 3 brass sleeved pins between the slates. My old GCIII was the same.

Best,

Russ..

I'm in LA  You know any good poolhalls in the LA area with 9' tables and procut/tight pockets? I typically play at champions billiards in downtown LA (koreatown) and although the young crowd gets annoying when I'm actually in the mood to play, they do have relatively nice tables. brunswicks with tight pockets.. tables cleaned after every customer and balls polished..

Any of the downstairs tables at Hollywood Billiards are about as tight as you'd want. Well under 4.5". I'd say 4 1/4 or less. All Gold Crowns. The food is quite good there too.

Just a heads up that the deal is DONE, and my new Diamond Pro-Am (with pro-cut pockets!) will be delivered mid-June!!!

Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it!

I will post pictures once we get everything set up. This room will be a stunner!
