Omega DPK

sorry, I'm old school and don't check emails or AZ every day. I got a call from the owner and yes I did the finish process on the cue and yes it was made by the Omega DPK company .D Hill

I am a Cue Maker and was involved in this cue in question.

Attached is a letter defining the history of Bradley's Cue.

Esoteric Pin is a 3/8" x 14 modified pin which is the same geometry as Omega DPK. This is our standard design for the Big Pin Flat Face Joint Configuration ( See Details in the letter )

In the end I'm glad this transaction never happened. I don't believe this cue should have been advertised as an omega / dpk . I would think it would have been more truthful to call it an omega blank finished by Esoteric/ Hill. I mean you wouldn't call a Palmer a Szamboti cue because it used a Szamboti blank.

Not sure that price was such a steal anyway...

Very few folks collect these cues, and due to the fact that there was such a turnover in the hands that made these, there is very little continuity to the brand. For the most part, they are just Bender's before he changed the design to his liking, and put his name on them (meaning went into business for himself). There are a few DPK models, which are really about the only collectibles from Omega except for a few fancy Mike's, and even those are kinda trapped in 'whatever' land. Truthfully, Omega probably never should have happened as it only convoluted this section/era of the market.

At any rate, hope all ends well with this cue. They were some nice playing cues!
 
My intention was never to decieve anyone or put false information up. As I stated earlier, this is not my cue. I am selling it for a friend. He told me it was an Omega DPK. The reciept he has also stated Omega DPK. So what am I suppose to think. I listed it as what I was told and what the reciept said. I do apologize if people believe I listed wrong. However I was just going off the information I had.
 
It's always a friend when things go south! I don't think I will sell anything for a friend!
 
Apologies for asking.

When you read Omega and DPK in the same sentance didn't you ask yourself really? I am not certain but less than 3 DPK Omega Cues were built. Maybe 3.
Is this true or not. Eric Lee might know. Who else?

No I did not ask myself really. I took the bill of sale for what it was. It said Omega DPK and thats what I put it as. I would have no reason to question the bill of sale. I am not a cue expert or maker. I do not know that much about many cues.

I know Erik personally and so does the owner of the cue. We all shoot in the same league. I believe Erik would tell you that I was not trying to rip any one off. I gave as much information I could based on what I had.
 
from what I gathererd, it does not sound like the seller had any clue of the adulterated history of Omega, or these particular 'estate find' cues (seems they've been nothing but trouble since they showed up).

And Erik is certainly one of the more knowledgeable collectors of these cues. However, for the straight dope, I'd go to DPK or M/M Bender. John Wright shared his version with me, as well as Ed Young, and that's enough for me to go on.
 
I don't think the 'estate find' cues themselves were problematic.....the problem was the marketing. These cues should have gone to collectors to remain in tact as blanks or been transformed into something that looks different than the original. Poor judgement imo. They could only water down the mystique/name/following (whatever you want to call it) that Omega/dpk cues had. And there was a pretty good following at one time.
 
I don't think you are dishonest

DPK and Omega get lumped together alot. For you an honest mistake.
I am sure Mr. Hill did an awesome job.
