On Oxygen... Guy

When wearing oxygen respirator, does this change your game much... ? This is meant to be a question to those who understand... Guy

In a room filled with spectators or playing at High Altitude, it definitely helps.
I've always found that, Being Out of the room twenty minutes before my match was called, because of this.
An example, a packed room on a Friday/Sat night with a poor ventilation system.
And when it is in the later rounds, and weekend crowd arrives. The air sucks.

There was a player in Denver that did this 90's, older man/smart/gambler, not a rounder.
He played the sympathy card and drug this green tank around to Exemplify his deterioration.

He got spots from the locals, allowing him to lemonade even more. :)

Not just my game, but others, There are different types of respirators and different weights with different batteries, this is why I worded as I did... Guy

The only gamble I might have is on breathing, no actual gamble... Guy

People with all kinds of handicaps or aids (walker/wheelchair/artificial limbs) find a way to play. Does it change the game. They seem to find a way.

Guy Manges, Howdy;

I do use O2, they have me at 4 liters/min. As much as I can I leave the tank and canula
at my chair and shoot. Sometimes I go back to the chair for a 'hit' but usually when the
opponent is shooting. Much to my Pulmonary Doc's chagrin I try to NOT use it 24/7as it
(to ME), feels like the more you use it the more you end up needing it. What I do is what
I do FOR ME as we are ALL different it may or may NOT work for you. Only trial and error
will help you figure it out. Best of luck, get back to the table and give it a go. You won't
know what works for you until you try.

i think you may/will have a small O2 tank with a metering device/gauge and a cannula. smoking can present a problem with oxygen usage but that is anywhere, anytime. ignition sources and O2 are not a happy situation. i'm happy to see oxygen users out and about whenever, wherever. if poolroom is nonsmoking there should not be a problem with O2 usage.
i do encourage you to use as your dr. prescribes. oxygen therapy is serious business from the word GO.

Yup, have a smallish tank with Regulator and cannula. It's an On Demand type so not filling the atmosphere about me
with my limited supply. Here in NM, the "Private Clubs" of which my VFW is one, are permitted to allow smoking. Myself,
I gave it up in 2005. I have one set of clothes that I wear there as getting the smoke (2ed hand), smell out is impossible.
Supplemental oxygen IMO, is akin to wearing a back or any other brace. The more you use it the muscles that it is helping
become used to the brace doing their job and overuse creates more problems. Watch weight lifters. Yup, strap on the Belt
when lifting but off it comes when not lifting. Leave it on during a full session they would have a difficult time lifting anything.

So, I do know what I'm doing with my O2, I did have a cryogenic license when I was in the Navy so I could refill aviator's
Liquid and gaseous oxygen systems. If you don't know someone don't ASS-U-me to tell them about something they may
have moer experience and knowledge then you may have. Perhaps you may know more then me, but this is my alligator
and I'll wrestle it alone thank you.

Hank, I've been on oxygen for about ten years... I played up to covid and have stopped, I did the same as you, shut off to shoot and stayed off as long as possible, got where I didn't need while playing, seemed the exercise helped breathing... Now with so many different unites and weights I thought maybe I could talk to someone on form about the use of different units... My bottle is good for about 30 minutes, I want to compare with others about battery times and life of batteries... last time I played I noticed the dirt around me more than ever... Thank you Hank

Yes very good... thank you for that... I'm gun shi about the oxygen bottles seeing the possibility of ignition and the chance of a manifold being broken from a bottle and filling a fifty by fifty room full of fire... From my childhood I have had three good friends burn up in and from fires... Guy

Guy Manges & woodyosborne, Howdy;

I would love to get one of those Inogen machines. To costly for my budget.
The VA provides my gear through an outside provider. Concentrator for at
home and a refill compressor to refill my walk around bottles. Small ones
last about 6-8 hours and the larger ones up to 10 + hours.
Most of the Inogens are demand type as far as I looked into them. Some
have longer lasting batteries and you can buy spares so when ya go somewhere
you can take enough back-up and then plug into a usb charger of vehicle cigar
lighter to re-charge.
With my set-up, either I chunk another bottle in the truck. As I mentioned up
in post # 14. O2 is safe to be around, ya just need to educate yourselves about
what you can and don't really want to do with it hanging around. Feel free to
PM me through the forum. I'll answer what I can and attempt to send you in the
correct direction for what I can not answer.

Hank, the most I've got out of my portable bottles is about 1 hour time, I've got a big bottle emergency back up on wheels but have never used it. I to get my air from the VA via contractor. I've got my big unit for home that I use a lot... I hope to find someone on form that has or used one of small light weight battery units that can tell me all the info. ... Guy
