On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Only 10players showed up in Osseo............

I was pretty impressed with what Rod has done for pool in the area.

Running these tournys and then having this $1000 tourney at the end is pretty cool.

He's created his own little slice of heaven in Osseo Wi.

Pretty cool. Great job there Mr Rodney:wink::D

I got there this morning at 12:00 and there were only 10 players.

Pretty soon Rodney was running a Calcutta and the tourney was under way.

Entry fee was $25 for everyone. That included the green fees.

The prize money was $1000 just like what was advertised with first being guaranteed $500. Second was $250 and he paid down 6 places.

We played a race to 5, 8 ball with alternating breaks.

The players really need to look at what is going on here and really support what Rodney is doing. It's so sweet for the players that he still went on with it with so few players. There were 2 other tournys that took allot of the players away.

There was never any talk about reducing the money at all.

Rodney is the man.

The cool thing for me is I got to meet some of the players that I had never seen before. They had heard of me and my Perfect Aim but had never seen what it was all about.

I set up one paid lesson and scheduled 2 more later in the week.

So the $500 plus the $50 profit from 1/2 the Calcutta with the $600 for the 3 lessons gives me a pretty good weekend. Not bad when I felt like I could hardly get there.

Didn't play my top game but got through it just the same.

So if any of you AZer's ever go through Wisconsin on I 94 past Osseo be sure to stop at Meatheads and say high to Rod Schaefer. One of the local good guys here that is really trying to do something good for the players.

Thanks Rod for making this pool world a little better place for all of us.

Nice of you to give credit to Rod Schaefer and his pool room. I'll see you in Denver.

Very nice of you to give credit to Rod and the pool room. After my wife and I get our new Elio car this pool hall will be one of our stops. This should be in 2015. I still want to take the class from you. I will email you after we get back to Michigan from the Philippines. Shoot well my friend. May all your paths be bright ones.

HOLY SMOKES! I just read and caught up on Elio Motors. 84 mpg and only $7,000.00. Seems almost too good to be true. Let me know when you get this car.

Thanks,
JoeyA

After Denver I will be back on the road again...............

March 21 st I will be playing at the Nick varner Classic in Colorado springs.

I'll work my way over to New town ND to play in the Four Bears tourney in April.

Sounds like a plan. This will kick off the new trip with Perfect aim teaching and playing.

Denver is a great pool town can't wait to get there and stir things up again.

I might start my trip to Denver on the first of March teaching and playing my way out there. Had enough of being in one spot. The road is calling.

And Joey, I did look at one of those 80 miles to a gallon cars. I don't think I could get my stuff in there. Have to stick with a van or I might have the motorhome by then.

This gives my at least a month to get snapped back into good shape.

Just found a great tourny in Wyoming on the 28th..........

Thanks to one of our AZers sending me a PM I will be going to Wyoming for a great tourney in Saratoga. This will be right after the Nick varner Classic so I won't be doing many lessons after the tourney. Maybe 2 or 3.

After this one I will have about 9 days to get to four Bears.

Anyone wanting to learn perfect aim while I'm there will want to set up their lesson ahead of time. limited times available for sure.

Called ray today at Four Bears and caught him at the table so I gave him the Perfect Aim phone lesson. he understood how well it worked right away.

I had a great time teaching him also.

Can't wait to get back on the road.

One man a van and the road...............again..............

My next trip is gettin pretty easy to schedule..........

Every time I look there is another great tournament to go to.

March 7-9 it's going on in Fargo ND. Mike Page and company are at it again.

Looks like I will swing out there and play. Then I will work my way to Denver.

Might find another tournament on the way or I might just teach and play.

The fun part is preparing for this next journey.

Getting closer all the time.

And still doing lessons everyday in the Eau Claire area. My latest student, his name is Lance, just called me to say he is making shots easily that he had trouble with before. I enjoy all these calls because it reinforces for me why I do this.

Thanks lance.

Got a choice today...........

There is a local tourney 1 mile from where I stay with a $15 entry. Race to 3 8 ball. Small Calcutta.

Might be $250 for first and I would probably win this thing.

OR

I can drive 2 1/2 hours to Burnsville where John Stitch is having an MPA event.

AA and Masters play together. Some go to 5. Others go to 6 but all masters go to 7.

$50 entry with a Calcutta. I will have to play the best players in Minnesota again and take it down.

Not really a choice. I'm going after the fight.

Look out Minnesotans, her I come to crash your tourney.

All kidding aside i'm almost considered one of the guys over there. The Twin Ciyies is about 100 miles from where I live and they have some pretty nice pool halls.

I know all the players and most of them I am best of friends with including the infamous John Stitch.

I'm going for the fight though.

Minnesota here I come.

And by the way, Craig Zoski has been doing this for a long time. Great pool hall. And it's all about pool there also. One of the longest running pieces of pool heaven in the whole USA.

Thanks craig for having such a great place for all of us players.

See ya there.......

Has anyone outside of Minnesota ever heard of these "best players in Minnesota"?

I can't give you any names but the best players in Wyoming give them the 7!

Gene is pretty slick in picking his fights/tournaments. I can't blame him as I did the same thing. I never played in tournaments and tried to never match up with someone that had the nuts or a NAME player. If your seen playing a top player, even if you lose badly players only remember that you play top pros and want the world as a spot. Johnnyt

I went to Mn and played in the MPA tourny......

Had a great time until I played a friend of mine that was under rated.

My friend, I won't say his name, is not working at the time. His not working game is about Master speed and the rankings have him as a low AA. AA is his true rating whe he's working and can't play much. He played great and ran out just about every time to the table. He did a Perfect Aim lesson from me about 2 years ago and has really taken it to the next level for sure.

It was a handicap tourney.

There was some road player from seattle at Shooters. After the tourney I played him a set for $500. Race to 11. I was ahead 9-1 and my left leg bent in as I put my weight on it breaking. I could hardly stand the pressure of my weight anymore.

Won the set 11-7. Couldn't play another one but I plan on going back there on Monday to play some more.

I'm right back on the edge of playing some really good pool again. I was getting kind of rusty doing too many things other than playing and practicing.

Can't wait to get back on the road again and get in action all the time. it's hard to play many of the players here because we're friends. they know they have the worst of it and it's hard to match up. Mostly cheap sets.

But when your playing good naturally you want to bet high.

So much for picking my fights and tournys carefully.

Many of the better players are not good action. As soon as they realize they can't win they don't play any more.

Kind of like the Casinos. If you beat them counting cards they kick you out or won't let you play anymore.

Oh well. I guess nobody likes to lose.............

You've had the opportunity to play big sets in your home state for the last 5 years and declined every time. You've been offered to play cheap sets and once you lose the first you quit. I like you Gene but you paint a picture that is far from truthful when it comes to you matching up. I've basically begged you to play everytime I've seen you for the past five years and I work all the time and play tournaments occasionally. I enjoy reading about your travels but I just wish you would stop the insinuations that its hard for you to get action when you are at home. I work everyday during the week but if you want to match up before you leave on the road again I will meet you half way and play for what ever you want all day long on a weekend. Im just trying to send off with with a pocket full of money.

mn player

No Stroke- Local MN player here. Please send me a PM and let me know who you'd like to put in the box giving up the 7.

At 60 it's tough to play long periods of time....

Every time I came back to Wisconsin from being on the road the last 5 years was to heal up from an injury or just plain wore out from the road. The roads allot of work.

I pushed myself to the limit yesterday. What's allowing me to do this is the meds I take now for seizures that let me get some good sleep. Hard to sleep when your flopping around about once every hour.

Got up at 9:30 AM and drove 2 hours to the Twin cities.

Played in the tourney and got knocked out about 11:00 PM at night.

I played one set with the idea the I might only be able to play one because of being wore out and the place closes at 3:00AM.

As it turned out I did push myself a little too far. As I was breaking my left leg kind of bent the way it wasn't supposed to. Today as I read your post I can walk on it but it's real tender.

I love to play pool as much as you do and my options as far as playing people is limited also. Not as limited as yours because you've terrorized the area with your great ability for a long time.

But I can't get into a tough dog fight when at a tournament because of my physical limitations.

Someday when you hit 60 you will understand.

We will play Tom but it will not be after I'm worn out from playing in a tournament. I want to enjoy playing with you and not be all worm out.

This guy I played yesterday was the first real serious money match I've played since my mothers funeral. Other than that I've just been playing in some tournys and just trying to get my wings back. Playing pretty good but need to be right mentally to play for the cash also.

I know what I need to do for me to be ready and it won't happen until then.

I really appreciate the offer to play and we will but there is no rush except that these seizures might get me. But then I guess it won't happen for sure.

I have 30 days before I go on the road again. I'm just hoping I can be in good enough physical shape to deal with the rigorous regiment of the road.

Fargo, Nd , Colorado Springs, Co, Saratoga, Wyoming and then New town, ND ( Four Bears) are all paid for with rooms.

I will be calling you to play some to help me get ready for the tough competition ahead at these tournys. Players like yourself are rare that are ready to jump up and play everyone.

Maybe we could meet in Madison. I think that is about the halfway point. Not sure.

The good part is that I would get your top game and you'ld get mine.

I'll call you.

Thanks Tom.............

Feb 22 looks good for me. I'll pay your room and gas to play in Beloit. We can play long races or ahead sets. I would prefer ahead sets. Hank said he would take half your action. I prefer bartable but will be willing to play bigtable if I get enough notice. I dont care what the bet is but want to play for awhile. None of this losing one set and quiting. Hopefully y hat date works for you. Im sure Dave will give us a nice deal on table time and he can stream on any size table. Let me know, I might just try that thing they call practice.

Many factors determine this for sure......

between Tom and Johnny F. Who's the favorite Gene?

Tom M and johnny F both face the same problems that most player in the country face. The both work full time and are raising a family.

Life trumps pool any day.

I quit playing from 1999 to 2008. I never saw either of these players play in their prime and not working as much so I'm not a good person to ask.

right now it seems that johnnys game is way down because of work and not playing hardly at all.

Tom works full time and still finds time to play in allot of tournament regardless of working full time with a very demanding job physically. Tom is a bull.

Right now from what I see tom would be the clear favorite in a battle right now. It's not even a thought that it would happen. The calcutta at these tournys speak for themselves
The players know tom is the powerhouse right now.

I know this for sure. if these 2 guys were both in top stroke I don't know who I would pick. i'd keep my money in my pocket unless I really wanted to gamble.

Sorry there but not much help.

They are both top notch guys. Good for the game.

We have a few butt heads up here but Tom and Johnny are 2 of the good guys.
