On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Back on the road again..........

But it's the short road......It was to Austin Mn Sunday..........

Troy had called me awhile back. He had 2 nephews, Kane and Dillon and he finally called and set up a time.

As usual it was so much fun. One by one I showed them which eye was dominant. This was a challenge because they all were kind of in the middle. After we got done the middle didn't exist anymore and the shots were going in the holes.

it's fun when there are multiple lessons together like this because they can see that we are all the same together. Everyone that was right eye dominant had trouble cutting the ball to the left and everyone that was left eye dominant had trouble cutting to the right.

As all the players that have learned Perfect Aim can attest to.

Then it came to Troy's wife. She was right handed and left eye dominant. As she got down to shoot it was obvious that she was left eye dominant and she kind of turned her head to the right so it looked like she was peaking with her eyes to the left.

After seeing why she was doing this and showed how to get the eyes right she never missed a shot. She shot 2 balls, one to the right and one to the left. Each shot hugged the rail and about 5 straight in shots. She could hardly believe the results and I could see Troy was surprised also.

It was about 7 hours long and everyone got to seeing the shot right. I expect Kane and Dillon will be heard from in the future.

2 new young fires started Sunday in Austin for sure and Troy and the wife are going to have so much fun working on their new found ability to see the shots correctly.

My hats off to Troy for making it possible for me to work with these young guns. This is what will build pool, working with these young guys.

Off to the tourney at Shooters in Burnsville. Got to keep those balls rolling.

Thanks again Troy for making Sunday such a great day and that diamond table you have is the best playing table I have ever seen. The few games we played afterwards made me feel like a kid in a candy store even though I was so tired.

Only 10 players last night.....

Pool up here in the North country kind of dies during the summer.

Down south they still play allot because it is too hot to be out side.

There were only 10 players last night at Shooters but they were the better players.

Dan Seliento is a good player in the Twin cities.Real nice guy also.

We battles it out last night with the difference being just a shot or 2.

I only won $90 for first but where else can you have so much fun and get paid also.

My advice for all the pool players everywhere. Support these weekly tournaments. It will help you get ready for when the big ones come to your town and you will have some fun.

Plus it will support your local pool hall. Especially in the summer up here we need all the help we can get.

Off to another lesson...............

Interesting weekend to say the least...........

Played in a 9 ball tourney Friday night and won that.

Played in an 8 ball tourney Sat. Played real well considering the condition of the tables. New cloth and they were about a foot too close together but other than that, Oh wait. 2 of my matches we had to switch to another table. While playing the first game or 2 we noticed that all the balls rolled to one end. They were terrible.

Other than that everything was fine.

Then I got to the final match and was playing a good friend of mine, Scott D. He runs most of the tournaments in the Eau Claire area and does a great job.. He had to beat me twice. I played well all day long.

The score was 1-1 in the first set. All of a sudden a girl that I really don't know very well, comes over and starts grinding on my crotch with her butt like a stripper. She's one of the locals and plays pretty good pool also.

It was fun for a minute but it got real old real fast.

My friend Steve was standing near by and heard her say to Scott something like : How's it working. How's that? I guess her plan was to help her friend scott out by distracting me.

Worked pretty well. I dogged a couple pretty easy outs. Lost the first set on the hill. Only a race to 4.

This not only was the grinding and hanging on me but hopping and dancing fairly close to the area where we were shooting only while I was shooting.

And she continually came over to Scott and asked how she was doing.

I finally got angry knowing now that this was an intentional act. I gave her a real angry look and let her know I was pissed but the dancing and moving still persisted.

I lost the second set missing balls too many to count.

It cost me about $250. I was upset with Scott for not putting an end to her antics seeing as she made her intentions perfectly clear to him. She's pretty good friends with Scott. had it been the other way around I would have put a stop to it by making it perfectly clear that I wouldn't want to win that way. STOP NOW !

I've had players girlfriends distract me at tournaments purposely but I never had this happen before. She was just doing it as a friend to Scott and just because she could. She's also a very pretty girl.

I was pretty upset on the ride home and didn't sleep well last night. I felt pretty bad that this would happen in my home area.

Oh well. Chalk it up as a bad experience.

I got another tournament today. Up up and away..........

Pleasant surprise. Greg Fix at the Two Stooges Sunday 9 ball tournament..

it was great to see my old friend. One of the best players in the Midwest over the 70's 80's and 90's.

He shot pretty well also tonight at Two Stooges. .

I came through the winners bracket and Greg came through the losers. I watched and saw him play with the same precision that he did 15 years ago.

Finally it was only Greg and myself left. He had to beat me twice in a race to 7. Alternate breaks.

Ty Wilson pulled up a chair to watch. He knew he was seeing something special and Greg didn't disappoint Ty or myself for that matter.

It was like 2 prize fighters trading punches. Back in the old days we just tried to keep each other in the chair be running racks. Now with alternate break it's a whole new game.

Each time Greg broke the corner ball would pop in and I just had to pray that something was tied up.

Each time I broke I know Greg was praying also.

After trading punches back and forth and the score tied 5-5 Greg had a chance to get on the hill. After a safety battle that lasted about 5 or 6 shots Greg had a chance to run out and get on the hill.

He hit the 1 ball a little too hard and got hooked. Kicked real good but gave me a shot.

Being up 6-5 I still knew the battle was still on. One thing Greg Fix is, is a grinder. it ain't over til it's over for sure.

We played some safes back and forth with Greg winning the safe battle. All he had to do was shoot the 8 ball straight in and draw back about 2 feet for the 9 ball.

He miscued hopping the cue ball over the 8 ball and into the pocket.

I almost felt like, You can't do that and cheat us out of playing on the hill. In the bottom to the top of my heart I really thought that game was over and the hill hill gave was inevitable.

After the final I went up to Greg and told him that I use the KiTech medium tips on my playing cue and my break cue. The one I put on my break cue I've never touched in almost a year and the one on my playing cue is about 7 months old and plays great to this day. I didn't miscue. .;

I gave him a tip and I also gave Ty Wilson one to try.

I am so looking forward to playing against Greg in more of these weekly tournaments.

Next time he won't miscue. That KiTech tip will get it done.

Hil Hill. It's going to happen. That's what it's all about.

Played like a maniac tonight at Shooters..........

Shooters in Burnsville had their Monday night 9 ball tourney as usual. I didn't get enough sleep and almost didn't go but after playing a couple of matches I was glad I did.

Moved the rock around pretty good and won my matches fairly easy.

What was the difference? I've been working out some.

Got a membership at Lifetime Fitness. What a setup. They have a pool to swim laps and a whirlpool and a hot sauna. Also just about any type of fitness equipment you can imagine.

I go after the poolhalls close so it's like I own the whole place. hardly anyone there at 3 or 4 in the morning.

Need to lose 20 lbs in a quick hurry. My left knee is acting up pretty bad. Doc told me I would need the left knee replaced soon after the surgery but this soon won't get it done for me.

There is Beloit , the last week of August and then in Oct is the big one in Appleton.

Got on the scale and got motivated tonight after looking at 209. Before my surgeries I was at about 195 and that was too much.

Teach, play and exercise. That's my life right now.

Need to keep dedicated to what I need to do.

Got some goals and I can't get there with this extra weight.

Pool pool and then some more pool. It don't get any better than this.

Good luck to all my friends that are at or going to Vegas..

Nobody stopped her is maybe because they are tired of you coming in each week to rob all the small weekly tournaments. You would think someone that was in charge would stop you, but aren't players took it upon themselves o get rid of you. Johnnyt

What they should have done is kicked that guy out for being a douche'. If people dont like playing the best players in open weekly tournaments they should stick to league play.

I suppose that's another way of looking at it, but most of the $10-$25 weekly bar tournaments are looking for regulars and new people that will come back and spend a few bucks and become regulars. They're not looking for a BB pro that eats and drinks in his camper, or a road player that spends $0000 and takes off their weekly tournament. Johnnyt

Around here they hold these tournaments for the players. They usually offset this with break pots or bingo/ or dj nights. Weekly tournaments are a cheap way to play the best, short races and smallish fields( 12-30). There are plenty of players that can beat anyone in this format and enjoy the competition. It's a cheap way to test your metal. I wish every top pro in the U.S. played the weekly tournaments around here I would gladly donate 15 bucks to play. Everyone does not need a trophy, This would defeat the purpose.

Damn Geno! Ya fell for the oldest move in the book lol! Sorry man. If it were me brother, I would have promptly called a " time out " in my match, grabbed her by her wrist and led her to nearest bathroom😂

Honestly I've been on both sides of that coin and see both perspectives. However I think I'd MUCH rather be the " regular " myself though.

Hey gene what cues and shafts are you currently using. Looking to switch from kamui tips. Using a ob pro+ shaft at the moment and ob break cue

I posted pictures of Geno's cues on Facebook....if you saw them, you would NOT believe it
Geno is one of those guys who can shoot lights out with most any cue.
If he gives me permission and I still have the pics I'll post them up.

May I ask why?

Sure. For one when the locals feel that an " outsider " is coming to rob their tourney ( which I have done many many times ) that can create bad feelings which in turn can lead to a fight or worse. Secondly , when I was running around hitting up smaller in house tourneys it was because I was between jobs and trying to make some extra chicken. I much prefer to be the regular that is now financially comfortable and play and gamble for fun, not because I had to.

Agreed. I just dont think anyone should be banned pro or not from playing in open weekly tournaments. To me that is the most enjoyable way to play the game. Anyone trying to make a living on such tournaments should check out mcdonalds. The work is way easier, pay and benefits are better, and you are guaranteed to make money. Your 15 dollars to enter is an investment in your game and not your wallet.

Agreed as well, if open tourney anyone should be allowed to play. Tell you one thing that I've seen quite a few times and it does piss me off. This is in regards to a local bar by me that had a nice little weekly 9 ball tourney for years. I've never had this problem personally cause this was my go-to watering hole anyways. But it was an "open tournament" and depending on if you were friends with the owner of the bar dictated if ya got to play or not. I'm not gonna put anyone on blast but there are few legit pros that frequent the place and basically take turns robbing every week ( keep in mind average weekly 1 st place about $100 give or take ). No problem. Then there are people that def play decent BUT NO WHERE NEAR these pros I mentioned but aren't good buddies with the owner and are told they can't play cause " they're too good " lol

This was not a local weekly tournament........

Jan's Tour in Wisconsin is a pretty good tour. Jan goes from town to town with a schedule that is planned out way ahead of time.

The field was not huge for this one but sometimes she gets as many as 32 to 64 players.

I play the weekly tournaments to stay in stroke and keeps me moving. I know if I sit still my health will fall into pieces. After the 3 surgeries I had within about a 6 month period my energy was down to almost zero. I couldn't believe it.

I sure wish you would quit hating on me Johnny.

I'm trying to help pool. At 62 years old and as banged up as I am and still play at the level I do says allot for what I teach.

I'm not a professional, just a guy that plays pretty good that is helping players play better everywhere I go and teach.

I consider myself a professional teacher but pro player, not hardly.

But again, Jans Tour is a regular tour that travels all over the state of Wi.

I don't HATE you. I just don't swallow all your BS like some others on here. Don't forget I've been around the block a few times myself. If you wouldn't brag every week about clubbing 95% baby seals in the tournaments, I would say nothing. But you have to brag. IMO you play in these tournaments for the money and do the perfect aim, only for the money. By the way, your perfect aim blog, tournament blog, and health blog don't belong on the main forum. Johnnyt

I agree with some of this but there is no way you could do what gene does just for the money. Hes a bit of an eccentric but no doubt loves the game. And for the record the douche' comment was directed toward the unsportsmanlike opponent and his dirty lady.
