On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Trying to control this blood sugar can really be a crap shoot.. Breathing in that second hand smoke just makes it that much harder.

I'll play alot better tomorrow. I'm sure if I win 3 sets he will quit. he's got a backer.

Gene, have you taken the diabetes education class offered by any hospitals? It usually is a multiple week class that covers the disease and treatment.

You may find this helpful, you will learn how many carbs you can eat per day and per meal. They usually have a nutritionist along with a nurse teaching these classes. Your blood glucose spikes 1-2 hours after a meal so that 170 reading you got a little white after you ate may not be easy to interpret. I believe the target is under 150-160 2 hours after a meal.

I appreciate your input

Hi there and yes I did take the class,

And the class is a must for anyone that is diagnosed diabetic because you can go from zero to 70 in a real quick hurry. because up to now your knowledge of diabetes is just about that,ZERO.

What I thought was funny about it was the people that gave the class were not diabetic. In fact they actually gave us some misinformation. Though most of it was great. Kind of like a pool lesson.

The 2 gals running the class at the hospital in my home town told us diet soda was OK. it's not. The only thing is it doesn't have sugar but it sure doesn't do much for your health.

There were other things to. Oh ya, they didn't even know what Stevia was. When I told them about it they told me they would check to see if it was safe for a diabetic.

I learned more from the diabetes forums on the internet about why certain things were happening to my body and mind. Talking to people that were diabetics. they have been through the misinformation process. They are trying to survive and feel as good as they can with this unpredictable disease.

I wish it was as easy as just going to a class and eating 50 carbs every 2 hours but it isn't.

When my blood sugar is up to 150 my game and brain can go right in the tank. Sometimes when it is 95,which should be ok, I start shaking and need to eat something real bad. Have no energy. Some peoples blood sugar goes up to 200 and they feel fine. Some go down to 90 and they feel fine.

Once I eat to bring it up the spike just changes everything, even the way you think.

If anyone that is not diabetic wants to understand this disease they should talk to someone that has their weight under control and is really working to keep it right.

The ideal thing for me would be to go to bed at 9 every night. Get 9 hours of sleep. Eat the same amount of food every 2 hours. Exact carb and sugar amounts measured. Exercise every day at the same times and the same amounts.

These are just some of the things that are a must. Really tough to do on the road but I do the best I can do.

I wish it was as simple as taking a pill and just eat this. But it's not.

Before I was diabetic I thought diabetics just had to take insulin or a pill and they were fine.

Was i ever uneducated and wrong..

Just the same with learning anything. Learn from someone that is successful at what they do.

Pool, golf,race cars,ping pong.

All the same.

When i got on the forum and told the diabetics on there that they told me I could drink diet soda I got a huge response.

They told me it is like poison to a diabetic. I cut out the diet soda and I felt alot better within a few days.

Thanks for the input. I hope this helps a few players on here that are diabetic but if you are diabetic your already doing most of the things you can do.

Your right there DrPool the school is a must but that is just the start of the battle. Diabetics are fighting for our lives everyday.

Diabetics don't die from old age. But from heart disease, heart attack or stroke. And it can happen anytime for no reason at all. By eating right and doing everything you can do to control it you can try and cut the reason for these things to happen.

But the better you can keep your blood sugar close to normal your quality of life while your here is so much better.

That's what is so tough about this smoke in the poolrooms. Breathing in that second hand smoke really throws a wrench in the works for trying to control blood sugar. It must have to do with less oxygen or something.

All i know is that when I'm in there for 8 hours my blood sugar skyrockets when I eat and the pill doesn't seem to help. Then all of a sudden it will drop way down. Now I'm at the other end of the problem.

Diabetics that I know that smoke are in real bad shape and getting worse very fast.

Good luck with it. Best advice I can give to diabetics is to stay out of the smoke. Most of them know this anyway. .......

Got some much needed rest today.......

Played a tall kid from New mexico today. it was pretty rough at first but I finally got zeroed in.

It 7:00 AM now so i will sleep until about 3 or 4 and then go down and get a serious game. I need that to get ready for Sat because every match will be serious for sure.

Too many good players that are right on top of their games. I just hope that mine will peak a little on Sat. I'm definitely not where I need to be.

Just have to do what I can.

You never know until the moment in this game of pool.

That's when you need to shine...............

There are some things in life we have no control over. Why not work in the states that prohibit smoking in private businesses?

Actually the states prohibit smoking in PRIVATE businesses.....That's why all the smokers go outside to PUBLIC AREAS to smoke.

Right. I've corrected my earlier posting. thx.

I didn't mean to pick on you personally, it's just that there is much confusion on AZ between the concepts of public and private property.

That confusion has allowed govts to take over private property and private decisions for its own benefit.

The night before the storm..........

This is the most important time before a tournament.

The night before.......

I got plenty of sleep but I slept until 4PM because I played until 5 PM.

I need to go down tonight and play someone for something and see if i can get my groove back in place. Not much practice this week so that is the toughest part. One letdown and it's over especially against this field.

Odds are against me because of the preparation this week.

Sleep will be huge also because I have my sleeping patern all screwed up. It's going to be tough to get to sleep at 12:00 midnight when I've been going to bed at 4 or 5 or 6 in the morning.

If i can't get to sleep I'm sunk from the beginning. It's hard enough at the end of the tournament when your tired but really tough to start out tired.

But tonight I do not want to get caught up in a game that I have to keep playing. Just take it easy and play cheap. Low stress.

best advice I can give to everyone even myself.

And by sharing this with everyone on here it helps me do what I need to do. Stick to the program and give yourself the best chance to win.

One man, a van and the road.......

Got lucky my first match at the Texas Open......

Played last night until 5:00AM trying to get in some kind of stroke. I got there but deffinitely didn't stay there this afternoon for my first match.

I got in the car about 45 minutes early. Good thing because it took me 30 minutes to go about 1 mile. Traffic was terrible plus my air went out on the van. By the time I got there I was cooked like a goose.

Then to find out I'm on the stream table. The extra lights make it kind of hot.

Then O have polyester pants and my shirt is made out of some non cotton fiber also, it just kind of kept the heat in my body. Needless to say I was sweating pretty bad during my 3:15 match.

Good thing the traffic going back to the room was OK. My van was not.

I played Tony and he was just having big trouble. He told me after the match that he has trouble playing in front of the camera. I told him me too obviously today.

The good news is my next match is at 11:15 PM. I have plenty of time to rest and even go to the gym and excersize some. By that I mean ride the bike for about 20 minutes real hard. Good for your circulation if your diabetic or for anyone actually.

I don't even know who I have to play next. Didn't look as usual. Doesn't matter. most of these guys play well or they wouldn't be here so you really don't have too many easy ones.

One man, a van with no air conditioning today and the road............It's only 95*to 100*today in texas I think............

Lost me second match. did it to myself........

Unfortunately I played my second match next to the table that everyone has to bring their score sheets to. Also they need to walk up there also to see when they play and the waitresses come there every once in a while to bring drinks. This table is not in the way but the people that come up to the table are. it's in a very bad place.

Rather than just put on the blinders I tried to wait until there was nobody there. This was a mistake. I turned myself into a distraction. I sabataged my own match. I needed to evaluate the situation and realize it would not get any better. Then forget about it and go to work.

I go back to play at 2:15 tomorrow. I will have the blinders on. It's pretty crowded in there and their doing the best they can do. This has kind of turned into a real battle. If i can't keep the blinders on it will be a quick tournament for me.

All you can do is get some sleep and start over tomorrow and do the best you can do.

If this place was twice as big it would still be crowded.

don't get me wrong, this is a great little poolhall and the players here are lucky to have it.

Just too good of a tournament and not enough room.

Down to 34 at the Texas open......

I hit a gear.

9-4 9-2 and 9-1 tonight on the losers side.

Start at 10:00 AM in the morning. Just need to get past that first one and get the blood sugar right and anything can happen.

what fun. It don't get any better than this................

Keep it up, Geno!

When I moved to Palm Springs, CA for a couple of years, I didn't know my A/C was busted until it started getting hot. That first summer was brutal driving to and from work.

Hello Geno,
You are doing great! Keep up the good work! Go get them, Geno......
By the way, I have power now so I can get out of the car. Boy, I am glad my AC works in my car.
I am pulling for you to win, Geno.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

Got 9th thru 12th....

it was a great tournament for me considering that I was contemplating not playing after hurting my ribs changing a tire about 6 days ago.

As I looked around the room I felt kind of honored to be part of the last 12 players. I was at the tail end of my energy. The match before I lost out i was pretty weak. was way ahead and kind of lost focus. Won 9-6 but should have been 9-2.

But until that I had alot of fun. Now I need to figure out how to keep the energy.

Tomorrow I have 3 lessons and wed I have 2 so far. I will be staying here in Round Rock Texas until Thursday Morning for sure.

Plus I got LT chasing me around for action. Sorry LT but lessons trump action all to peices. These lessons are very important and are the main reason I'm here.

I hope we can squeeze in a set or 2 but I doubt it. Lesson at 11, 3 and 7 o'clock. After that I'll be pretty wore out. Wed the same and Thursday I have to go.

Too much fun. Time to go to bed.

Going to bed even seems like too much work right now.

Heading to Waco tomorrow I think..........

The tourny at the Big easy in New orleans got cancelled because of a hurricane I guess. Imagine that?

So it's off to waco to meet up with Ray (the Big truck) Hansen and get that new Perfect Aim DVD done with all the great info that has made Perfect Aim such a huge success here on the road.

Don't know how long it will take to edit and get the final product but it will be worth the wait for sure.

Every lesson that I give is a home run and I just got verification from a doctor that explains why Perfect Aim works so well. It has something to do with the Retinal field of view. Once this is explained in the new video everyone will know why this works for everyone.

It's so obvious why this works that everyone will need to learn this or they will not be on a level playing field with players that do.

That's the way it is already but it will become more obvious as time goes on. And the players that have learned this don't want other players to learn.

The cat will be out of the bag.

Anyone from waco wants to learn Perfect Aim I'll be there for about a week for sure. I'm sure I can squeze in a lesson or 2 but that will be all.

First call, first to get one. And so forth.
