My business is safe for sure Mr John...
Thanks Jeff................and Gene........It is not my intent to put you out of business.
What got me interested in what my eyes were actually seeing started with Gene and Perfect Aim.
I have conducted some experiments on my own to try to get to the bottom of what is going on with my vision and the way my vision perceives pool shot lines.
This is one experiment I set up:
Place an OB and QB diagonally in the center of the table about 2' apart. Using a straight edge, arrange both balls straight into a corner pocket, remove the straight edge.
Stand behind the QB (a cue sticks length) do not look at the QB yet. Move your body until your eyes see the OB straight into the corner pocket. When you feel you are locked in look down at the QB then look at the OB. Does the shot look straight in to you? Physically the balls are straight in but your eyes are telling you something different.
This is what I would call "Retinal Disparity". The only way I have been able to correct for this is to use my eyes to line up my chin on the shot line, not using either eye but using both. Works for me.
Mikery (Mike) got me on a track to help with this issue.......thanks Mike.
Jeff thanks for your post.
Gene, I'm still waiting for my lesson. I turned 67 April 3rd and don't know how many years I have left.
Not trying to hijack Gene's thread. This will be the last post I make on this subject.
Have Fun
John
Hi John,
I know you have followed what i teach and you know that it flat out works.
It's because the eyes only work one way.
The only difference is some are more dominant than others.
After 5 years of dedication to traveling and teaching I have all the completed pieces to the puzzle.
There is no way that someone can just sit in one place and figure this all out. it took 100's of lessons and seeing the same thing over and over.
Figuring out little nuggets here and there that will help you envision some shots well are great but there are too many pieces.
I don't how to tell the world that I have this all figured out except to help individuals one at a time envision the shots better than they ever have before.
I wish we could have hooked up while I was there because you would have all the answers for sure.
The biggest problem is that the eyes take turns cutting balls to the right and to the left. One is dominant and the other is non dominant. This creates some big trouble for the brain if you let the brain just try to sort this out.
I could put this all down in writing with a book and still players would not get it right.
The video is good to learn with but I send a letter with every video telling them to call me for the Free phone lesson. Without this the players are not getting the whole picture especially if they have not identified the correct dominant eye.
I'm a little banged up right now with my neck or I might be coming through St Louis soon.
Got a traction unit for my neck and after using it for 2 days played in a tournament. Had less pain and the arms worked pretty well. Beat about 4 of the top players in Minneapolis coming through the losers bracket.
The problem was that I have hardly played for about 2 weeks and only in a couple of tournaments before that with bad results physically.
I'm signed up for 4 Bears casino in New town ND. I wasn't going to go. But I am going to play some today and the next day and then i will make my decision.
If this traction thing works this well I might just go. I lose control of my arms and hands a little with the whole right arm feeling very tired. it's hard to play when this happens. it feels like the arm is about 100 pounds.
Arm still feels strong today. Can't wait to go hit some and see the results physlcally.
If not good i will have to skip 4 Bears. And what a great tournament.
And thanks John for the thread you started with Tor's 14 days. This guy is doing some great things for pool.
And it's great for players everywhere to hear about what is happening.
