it's an event with a tradition, it's supposed to be USA - the nation of willie mosconi - vs. europe. i don't mind a second cup with europe vs. asia but ffs don't change the mosconi cup.
the way i see it europe had a dream team this year, and will likely have good teams for some time. meanwhile the US side had their second best player cancelled and three players who were very off-season / poorly prepared. while it may be unlikely an american freak talent will emerge soon, it's not impossible. when filler began winning everything in europe he immediately stood out as "something else" and had a lot of people perplexed with what was obvious freak talent. not just another european workhorse. i hadn't heard of him when he began knocking out big dogs and not long after that he was the china open champion, world champion..
it can happen fast at that age. don't forget that shane came from basically playing with himself (!) to becoming not only a champion, but a measure, a yardstick for everyone else. all the knowledge is out there now as well, so learnin greatness is literaly in their palms these days. i can see it happening, and chris will only get better, as will tyler, billy, maybe sky. i can see the proper mosconi cup becoming competitive again

There's video of Filler from when he was very young shooting lights out, there's so many talented kids over there, the phillipines, Taiwan, etc. We just don't have any here.
American pool just isn't set up to produce champions by the numbers like other countries, I wish it was different

Chinese have a work ethic unmatched here. They have pool conservatories because the enrollment is willing to do the work. Kung Fu and the acrobats for two examples.

Right. Even in the inaugural Mosconi Cup, Ortmann and Souquet, both German, were on Team Europe. It was never just UK.
