Here's a little tougher one. One of these guys is very easy to name, one is pretty hard, and I must admit I don't know the third one. The photo is from the same Dayton tournament as the one Earl won in 1982.

Bill where are you finding these pictures?
I used to take photos at a few tournaments here and there back in the 1980s. Still take a few a tournament, like at the 2005 DCC.

Well, I know the easiest one: Cornbread Red! :p

I have no idea who the other two are. :o

After consulting, the only hints I could get were the guy on the left
was a sweater more than a player,
and the guy on the right is a left-handed player. :o

Wow! What hints??? I believe you are correct!

These picures from Dayton are priceless! I would definantly like to so more of them.

Were these taken at forest park when the pool hall was there? I am a history buff of sorts and the pictures of the past really are intriguing as I have lived in Dayton for 36 years.

Everyso often I see framed pictures of this tournament but only one or two pictures. It doesnt quite fill in the ambience or the feel for what the tournement air was like.

By the way Cornbread is the only one I recognise as well. But there is something familiar about the man on the left.

Here's another one from that same tournament. I don't know a soul in this one.

The guy in the background to the left of the man in the center of the picture I'm pretty sure is a man that goes by the name of "Homer." I cannot recall his last name. He still hits them pretty good if that is indeed him.

From Detroit?

No, he lives in Dayton, a local. But it is hard to tell looking mostly at his profile and not directly at his face if it is indeed the Homer I think it is.

L to R
Ronnie Reynolds from Detroit (fair player, not real good, not real bad)
The Red Rooster aka Cornbread
I know who it is but I can't be sure....I'd like to say Jimmy Marino

Cornbread and Jimmy Reid. The other guy is either Harold Pauly or Homer Jones. It think its Harold, a gambler from Kentucky. |I knew Homer too, and that just doesn't look like him.

Steve, you might be right about Ronnie ccme to think of it. He did come to Dayton with Red as I recall.

He sure looks like Harold Polly tho. A well known KY. poolplayer and various other trades which I won't mention.

Of course you are correct about Corn. I think you are also correct about the guy on the left. All I was told about him (by the guy on the right) was that he was kind of a gangster from Detroit, not a top player. The guy on the right is named Jimmy, but not Marino. Last name starts with a Z. He's a shortstop level player, or was back then.

Yeah you're close. On the right, It's Jimmy Zinder from Northern Kentucky, the left is Homer form Dayton. I don't know who thought Joey was in that picture but he's not.

Just more hot air!
