One Pocket Challenge

The dates this years are January 27-29. It will run from Noon to Midnite each day. Once again players will pay $50 for three tries to run as many balls in one pocket as possible. Each try will consist of five turns to break an open rack. Rules are the same as last year. If you make a ball on the break it spots back up. If you scratch on the break, you lose one and shoot from behind the line. You shoot until you miss each turn.

The highest four scores will split the money in the following percentages: 40% for First, 30% for Second, 20% for Third and 10% for fourth. The winner last year was Gabe Owen with a score of 60! Anyone beating that score will receive a $1,000 Bonus care of yours truly.

This year's Challenge will be held in the AzBilliards.com/OnePocket.org room. So we will all get to sweat the action. One table each day will be devoted to the Challenge. Once again we are asking AZer's to donate to the prize fund with some added money. I am donating the first $100, and Steve will be matching me. All monies will be handled this year by Steve Booth of OnePocket.org, and he will be helping run the event as well.

Thanks Mike. They have had this room together for a few years now. We call it the AZ Room, but Steve Booth of OnePocket.org is a partner in it and has been for some time. Appreciate the donation.
 
I'd like to see $1,000 in added money. Is there anyone else who is coming who would like to make a donation of only $100?
 
That is a $500 added commitment so far. If you can, this is a nice way to show your support for One Pocket.
 
What happens if you pocket balls in other pockets at the same time as pocketing in yours? I guess they will be spotted when there are no more balls left on the table, but just wanted to be sure :)

Made 11 in one try today, 25 in total on 5 tries. Good practise, but I can't understand how it is possible to run 60....

5 racks X 15 balls per rack = 75 possible.

You can run 60 by running 4 racks and quitting...:p

You are correct. If you make a ball in another pocket after the break shot, it won't spot until you've made all the rest of the balls.
 
We sure could use some more added money for this event. Who wants to help us out, and be famous! :thumbup:

Now I have tried the One Pocket Ghost about 50 times, and I have still not managed a perfect out.

I guess if I quit after 4 racks it will be because I am embarrased of my performance :embarrassed2:

Of those 50 tries I have my 3 highest on tape, here:

Will be fun sweating the pros doing this during the DCC! I will bring my camera and try to tape some of the best. Hopefully they will run 15 and out every now and then, like last year!

Every bit helps & believe me, your contribution is very much appreciated!

Guys -- there is definitely no dishonor in donating less than a c-note. The only dishonor might be in not donating at all, when you know you could afford it!

Mika is in the lead with a 53 (5,13,15,15,5). Yes two perfect racks back to back. Corey is next with a 38. Today is the final day.
 
Mika won with his 53. He also tied for second with Darren Appleton. Both shot 50's. Efren dropped by and shot a 47 for third.

Mika won $1,300, Darren $500 and Efren $200. We only filmed at the very end, sad to say. But we got Scott Rabon's perfect 15 on tape. Look for it on youtube soon.
