One Pocket Forum? What do you guys think?

I get your interest and there's much love for the game here, but there already is a separate forum for it that pretty much takes care of the need for sub-forum here.

Its been thrown around here before about a onepocket forum.
But, the census agrees that onepocket.org is already well established and has everything we could possibly have here but with the added advantage of having the best reputable members and specialists in the game.
Most of which won't come to this site.
Maybe someday the 2 can merger into a one stop shop for all games that involve billiards.
Til then, just go there. You wont be disappointed.

Very little upside, but substantial downside.

The upside is that there's a dedicated place for one-pocket discussions.

But the downside is that only one-pocket players will bother to go there. People who haven't learned about one-pocket yet won't be exposed to it. I'm glad that people post threads about 14.1 in the Main Forum instead of restricting it only to the 14.1 sub-forum.

There's such a thing as having too many sub-forums.

Different animals

Completely different mindsets....chess/checkers comes to mind. Seeing some of the WWYD's here on rotation games is a huge tell on why it's not..................a good idea. :groucho:

I've wondered why there is not a 1 pocket sub forum. I think it would be a good idea.

I think subforums are a good idea as it keeps one from having to sort through all of the main's... shall we say 'charm & character'.

The more sub-forums the better to me. At least one's that are & stay popular. I think there are too many now that get little or not enough action.

That said, If CJ Wiley's 'New Game' is any good, I may not be taking up one pocket. I'm too much of football player for 1 pocket, I think.

A good solution is for there to be a one pocket sub forum here that redirects you to one pocket.org. That would be cool.

Problem solved

And T-Ron: I do know several one pocket .org members who come here to AZ as well (myself included).

From a user point of view I suppose, but I can't imagine why Mike would want to add a subforum here on his site to direct people to someone elses,,,,,,,

I don't believe Mike would be opposed, the reason he has not created a one pocket subforum is because onepocket.org exist so for it to open up a new tab taking you there would not be too big of a deal I do not think. Maybe Mike can chime in on the idea.

That's a possibility, but I am one of the few that would appreciate it. I have no intentions of joining another forum for such a small topic in general. I already belong to five forums outside of AzB

Maybe there is a way where you would not need to join but you could use your current AZ username/password to post there. Not sure if that is an option.

I don't think that's possible. I don't think onepocket.org is a vBulletin forum and I don't think you can link vBulletin boards together.

While I would agree with the bristling-with-too-many-subforums thing, certain things do need to be cordoned away from the Main area, because they've proven, over time (i.e. time tested) that they are lightning-rod topics. All forums have those "lightning rod" topics -- no matter the sport/topic. For here on AZB, Aiming is a good example. I wasn't a fan of this initially, but it'd proven to be a good move.

And, the only downside to having specialized games like one pocket and 14.1 on the main forum, is that you'll get people who don't know a goddamned thing about the game trying to "contribute" in "look at me! look at me!" fashion, simply because the topic popped up in front of their faces while browsing for something else. Sure, moving specialized games to their own dedicated subforum pulls them away from new people wanting to learn those games -- that's definitely a detriment. But people who are really devoted to the game know where to find the subforum, in "if you really want it, you know where to find it" style. Just like those that really are interested in and do play one pocket, go to onepocket.org.

It's one of those "can't win for losing" things.

Those people can still get in subforums, new or old.

could be your loss friend depending on your interests. They have some of the best one hole and banks players in the world frequenting that site. I rarely post there, just read and learn.

This is true. But how likely are they going to actively seek them out? Personally, I think they'll just stick to the low-hanging fruit in the Main forum.

"Yooooz their laziness against them, Luuuuke!" :D

I don't think that's possible. I don't think onepocket.org is a vBulletin forum and I don't think you can link vBulletin boards together.

Both Forums are vBulletin and even the same version 3.8.7 I believe, but I'm pretty sure there is no linking the 2 together, and I doubt either Mike or Steve have any reason to want to.

Another :thumbup2: for OnePocket.org ........ and I found it here on AzB. It is a dedicated forum for beginners to Pros. I met and still meeting some really fine helpful people there.

I would be more interested in a pool players dating sub-forum.
A place where guys and gals who were interested in One Pocket could hang out, meet up, have sex, then go their separate ways, kind of place.
We could call it Bangers Ballroom, or something like that. God knows we've got plenty of those. :)
