one pocket question

As JoeyA said, so the players can prepare. At one pocket, the players often consider the positions of every ball on the table when planning the current shot. A ball alone on the spot can be a huge difference from no ball on the spot or two balls on the spot. If both players agree, the ball can be spotted early.

This is very true, there were more than a few times, that i forgot i had to spot a ball up after my shot, and it can and will change the layout of the game,BOB your idea is the best and fairest way and the correct time to spot the forgotten ball.

Thank you, I've never had it really come up but I've always assumed the whole ball must be over the line. I wouldn't even try to shoot a ball that the whole ball was not over the line. If someone tried the "base of the ball" thing, i would assume they think their in a bad game and need that to win, in that case, go a head.

You really should read the rule book. Not everyone plays by the rules, but it's a place to start.

I got a pretty good grasp on the rules. I play one pocket a lot. But at the same time I'm not a stickler. I'll let certain things slide if I feel nessisary. I like to bet but I don't want to win by some rule, I care more about beating them then winning. I also tend not to gamble with people who are human rule books and try to win by a loophole.

Bob, I'm not trying to be argumenative. "So the players can prepare " is inane. If it's because he owed the ball and you don't want him to shoot last before it's spotted , I might can understand that, although not agree with it. You don't spot it when it's noticed. You don't spot it after you finish. Then your opponent shoots and finishes. That's two turns and that's enough. Spot one up. three is unnessary.
Rod.
PS. I concur anytime it's agreeable, it can be spotted.
