Gulfport Doc just gave this report on onepocket.org :

Mississippi Shoot Out updates...
Good morning, y'all. It's about 10 A.M., and I'm just about ready to head back over to the venue. The tournament had run exceedingly smoothly. No questionable calls, no forfeits, and only one shortened match. That was between two C players who were slow enough that I had to make their last game to five balls with a full rack. No complaints. In fact there were hardly any complaints whatever for the entire day, which has to be some kind of record with pool players!!! I guess the planets were all lined up properly...

To my great disappointment, due to a week-long illness, I had to sell my own spot. I couldn't have been much competition to anyone. In retrospect, I don't know how I thought I could have run the trounament and played in it as well. If we have another next year, I'll have someone else run the board.

There were some phenomenal matches. Special mention has to go to Nick Vita, who had to give up crushing weight all day (12-6, 12-5, etc.), but hung in there only to finish out of the money.

The matches have been moving right along. Despite a late start, we played down to the final 8 last night by midnight. 9th-12th were paid their $125.

The final 8 are:

Winners: Jason Evans-A vs. Ryan Malley-B; Mike Surber-A vs. George Shimmer-C

Loser's: Jason Moran-B vs. Joey Aguzin-B; John Henderson-B vs. Luc Dupierne-A

Matt Highsmith of CueSports Video Productions has done a marvelous job, despite less than favorable conditions. Today we'll probably be able to have 3 cameras on the final 4 tables, and pick good matches for y'alls viewing. Hopefully I'll be able to sit with matt a little, and do some audio updates. Perhaps we could even do a few interviews. It's nice to see our 1po-ers hanging in there (they're the sickest of the bunch): Henderson, Aguzin, Moran, and Surber.

The payouts will be strong, with 6K in the prize fund, 3K in the first Calcutta, and additional in the Calcutta for the final 8 today. Not too bad for a 32 man field in a small town in Mississippi!

We'll report back later re the finishing order, and other tidbits.

Matt90 Live-Streaming Product and Services.

I wanted to mention a little something about Matt. I had not met him before this tournament but he is a great guy with lots of computer savvy.

If any of you are interested in having Matt, LIVESTREAM your tournament, you should get in touch with him.

Matt is going over to Florida this weekend to film the Men's Florida Pro Tour by the Seminole Indian Tribe.

One of the many things that Matt does is he will sell DVD's of any of the matches that are filmed on the LIVE STREAMING TABLES. I purchased the DVD of Jerome Gambino and my terrible match. Perhaps it will tell me what I was doing wrong and give me a chance to correct it in the future if it comes up again.

Matt will also set up a private filming session to record your stroke and other mechanics on DVD for another nominal fee anytime he is not filming the matches. For this I suggest you make an appointment with Matt90 in advance of any tournament venue. YOu can PM him here on AZBilliards.

Matt also likes to play pool so be careful and don't get too far out of line.

Matt will not only sell recorded matches to the players but to anyone who wants a DVD of a match of one of their favorite players.

IF YOU LIKE THE LIVESTREAMING, YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THE LIVESTREAMERS LIKE MATT AND TAR WHO TRAVEL AROUND THE COUNTRY PROVIDING ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL OF US.

If you don't spend a little money on these LIVE-STREAMING guys, they may disappear before long. They spend just as much energy and time (maybe more) than the tournament directors themselves. And I can tell you from personal experience (at least in this one experience) that they aren't paid what they are worth.

I am hoping to convince Buffalo Billiards of bringing Matt down to New Orleans for a Live Streaming, handicapped one pocket tournament in the near future. Matt's presence was the icing on the cake, something we in New Orleans call "lagniappe". :)

Thanks Joey

I had a great time meeting you guys . In the future I
may just film the matches and then restream them later
if the place I go has a weak internet connection. In fact
I am going to take those matches down from the site and
restream them strait from the cams.We had some great matches
there and I want people to be able to get a better and better
experience watching these .I am in the learning curve with
alot of this and look forward to doing as many as I can .I love
being around and playing pool as much as possible .I quit for
15 years so maybe this is just my way of making up for lost time,
honestly I would do this for free if I could but I do have to make
money to stay out on the road and cover as much good pool down
here in the south as I can .
Joey again I can't say thanks enough for how welcome you guys
made me feel ,I also wanna say a special thanks to Doc for letting
me come down and to John Henderson for being the class act he is
as well. You guys did some great commentary unfortunately it is
garbled due to the slow ,up and down internet .Oh I wanna also thank
Lou Figueroa for letting me shoot with that cool 3 piece cue of his and
all of his great input .
Looking forward to hanging out with all of you guys again as soon as
you let me know when to pack up and head down to the Big Easy;)
