I have just started to play One Pocket and enjoy it very much. Here are my questions.
1). How to determine the break?
2). As a player in this game do you want the break or not and why?
Thanks in advance.
As others have said, the break is important, probably at least a ball if you break well.
One of the first spots in One Pocket is the break.
As Crabbcat said, if you let that corner ball loose towards your opponent's hole, you might sell the whole game out. And the answer shot after the break can turn a game around... I saw Ronnie Allen turn an almost perfect break around, kicked two balls over towards his hole, left whitey near his opponents' hole.
Hey Joe. The break is usually worth a ball. But your also going to find that its one of the most important shots in one pocket. Make darn sure when your breaking that you keep the balls tight. Especially the corner ball facing your opponents pocket. You don't want it leaking out.:frown:
Breaking is your friend.![]()
Funny, at first I read that at "One of the first shots in One Pocket is the break."
Either way, it's true.

No, I meant 'spots'... as in, I'll play you 9 to 7 and the breaks, meaning you break every time... that's worth at least a ball, maybe two.. big time spot.
If you are just starting to play One Pocket, here are two things to do:
Buy the book, Upscale One Pocket.
Join the web site, OnePocket.org
Yep, I realized that. I just thought it would be funny if someone had posted that the break shot is "one of the first shots in One Pocket."
I was taught one pocket by a guy named The Mighty Geese. He was prob top three in the world. He told me the absolute best advice on one pocket I've ever heard before or since.
