one rail banking

speed kills

So I have been playing for about 10 years now and banking has never been my strong piont... So its a good thing I can cut so well I was playing in FL and this old house pro showed me a trick you aim dead center cue ball to the edge of the object ball and move over a quarter tip on the cue ball with a good full stroke at about power 5 on a scale from one to ten... I didnt think it was going to work but let me tell you the right speed and a little practice I can bank it to any pocket from anywhere on the table short or long rail... any coments are welcome

Please Explain

Move cue tip over to inside or outside english? Using this system how do you adjust for tighter or wider banks? Doesn't the distance of the OB to the rail affect this?

quarter tip out side and the distance is all on the speed you strike the ball at. It has everything to do with timing your shots

Yep...

It's true - I do it all the time. Although I change the amount of english so as to have control over the speed of the cue ball

great tip, banks are my weak point so i just try not to get myself in that position. I do have a great technique to know where the objectball must hit to make the bank though.

There is only 1 spot on the rail that would work from on any given bank.Sorry, but it is not an accurate system at all. :(
If you need help on banks, pick up some instuctional videos/books from Grady Mathews or Freddy the Beard.
Same angle in, same angle out is a very good starting point. Then you can start working on what speed and english do to the rebounding ball etc.....

I sort of figure you are not explaining what you were taught very well. What you have written here would only work if you set up one of the specific bank shots that was meant to work that way. All the other 99000 one rail banks will not go in the whole using that.

I've spent a lot of time on this forum proving that edge of the ball aiming systems don't work. LOL I don't see why I would stop now! LMAO

That sound like a method of banking a ball that's about one diamond away from the side pocket and on the rail when the cb is in line with the ob or a few inches toward the side pocket.

I use BHE, I don't recall ever saying that BHE doesn't work. Unless your talking about something other than Back Hand English. Don't know, let me see what you could be talking about. HMMM Because Hal's Estimate maybe.:D

To the extent that it works, it does so by subconscious correction. This "half ball hit with a little outside" (or something like it) is also taught by Hal Houle. If it works consistently for you, fine, but I think you can do better.

Yeah, man
