I've searched and not found any threads on this subject.

What is the general consensus on the Connelly Ultimate - 2" pinned slate, 5-bolt rails, massive bed, 6 legs, etc...

?

Thanks.

It reminds me of ordering a cheeseburger animal style at in-n-out burger. Never worked on one, seems like overkill. I know they make a great home table that rivals anyones, without the ultimate version.

I agree with Donny on the overkill. But, no denying they are stout and may last like some of the old antiques. My opinion is they were made to remain in place and not move! Unless of course you get Glen to move it for you....LOL Not me!

But i'll say one thing for 2" slate, You roll a ball on the slate you hear nothing. But it is heavy as hell. I set up a display Ultimate table in Atlantic City at a spa convention a few years ago. I know it's not like those giant 1" one piece slates you tackle Glenn , but it was a *****.

I own a Connelly Ultimate and I have to tell you that it is a fine piece of work.

Moving it is a total nightmare...period.

Once installed properly, this table is absolutely amazing. Years of consistent play, GORGEOUS looks, a real piece of art.

I'd recommend one to anybody...really.

Best / strongest table made the USA, none better, as long as you do have to set it up, the darn thing is heavy man!!!!!!

Well, last week I consummated a deal on an Ultimate, after first missing out on a GC IV opportunity on flea-bay. Like many of us I've played most of my life's pool on a Gold Crown, of one generation or another, and so I was kinda keen to have one for my own. But, alas.

Anyway, we moved the Ultimate to my place on Friday... it took four of us (three fairly muscled guys and myself, not-so-well-muscled) to move each of the four pieces of slate. Wow!

The table will take a little rehabilitation, and I'm going to take my time with it. My main worry was with the rails (I started another thread on what to do about damaged subrails), but after finding out that Connelly will sell you a new set of rails at a pretty reasonable price, I'm a little less concerned about that.

Thanks for the comments.

When I moved from Colorado Springs, I sold my Ultimate, on one stipulation........
they move it!
It's an amazing table, and once it's setup, doesn't need to move again.
The only thing about it I never missed, was moving it....
I haven't had the opportunity to do another one yet, but I know how Murphy's Law works on things like that.
Once you say it's unlikely to happen, it's one of the next calls for you to do.
I think I'll give them Glen's number.....lol
At least you had some muscle to help with it.
So, all you have to do now is enjoy it!

I watched Mike getting a carom lesson at the bca show. He was actually doing well. Is he planning on more carom and less artistic?

Yes, playing billiards has really got Mike's attention, although he's still doing tricks and giving lessons. I'm finishing the table tomorrow, then I'm out of here, on to the next job. Mike said he'd take $4,000.00 for that Connelly, it's in mint condition.
