Opinions on Cue I'm thinking of buying

Personally for the money I would rather have a 1/1 made to my specs which can do with that amount. You can always get a predator shaft if you like them. But 1700.00 is a lot for a production cue limited edition or not. Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.

Yeah im thinking the same, ill probably talk to some custom makers and see how unique and skilled of a cue they can make me for the $.

thats a nice cue....if you like jacobys, they are a good cue. pretty fancy.....

make sure its what you want....its wood to wood joint so the balance will be different from a steel jointed cue. it doesnt have a wrap on it/ make sure you like wrapless cues. not sure what unilok radial pin does for a joint????

othe cue wont hit like a regular jacoby, ...it will hit like what it it is a "jacoby with pred shaft

if i was gonna spend that much money on a Playing cue i intend on playing with , instead of collecting....id make sure i shot a few racks with it first. but if you have to have it by all means go for it.

Its definately pretty. cues like this by big manufacterers are definately collectable....id say more collectable than a one off cue from a one off maker
i say this because its from a big manufacturer with a good rep and its a limited run production cue... ..(not saying value wise more collectable but as far as people wanting the cue) anyone can get a one off cue from a thousand different custom makers...this is a limited run cue from a bigtime maker, you wouldnt have a hard time finding a buyer for it down the road

kindof like say the GranSport corvette from chevy
or the Harley Davidson edition trucks from ford
Dodge Vipers will be very collectable
Acura NSX (awsome cars with very low production Numbers and can still be had for reasonable money, in 10 more years these cars will be wortha small fortune)
look at what a all origional 70 hemi cuda goes for today.

these are kindof poor examples but you see what im saying
they are collectable somewhat....because they came with rare factory trim

Jacoby(who has grown as a brand tremendously over the last 10 yrs. they are kindof the way Mcdermott was 20 or so years ago) Makes a good cue....my only nock on them is there clear coat isnt as durable as some others, doesnt stand up to abuse as well.

Like the others said-consult a custom cue maker and have one made to your specs. You will get much more cue for your money. IMHO-thats a lot of money for a production cue. Good luck!

Definitely go the custom route! For that price range I would consult with either Rick Howard or Pete Ohman here in Florida or Keith Josey in Georgia.

Good Luck,

Randy

I'm not a cue collector though I've loved the game for 50yrs. so I won't say much about paying that kind of money for a cue since I do understand that for some, it's the love of the look and novelty, and everyone has different amounts of crazy cash.

I'd get a brain MRI if I found myself spending more than 250 or so ... :)

Anyway, the cue is very nice, but IMO the panther or whatever it is on the butt, is corny and should never be on a cue that nice. I too would go the one off custom route for that kind of money.

Ditto! I play with a Josey now...my Jacoby is carried as a backup. Neither is in the price range being discussed, tho...

What do you think?

I am thinking i'd probably be better off purchasing a custom cue for the money, and get a very nice box veneer design, or maybe chess set type design.

I really do like to handle design with the panther, and the butt's amazing work.

You are in Florida ! So support the local market and go for an OMEN cue ! For this price rang Pete will make you a beautiful cue. Pete's cues are awesome and play great!

I would for sure buy a custom cue. Check with Pat Diveney, I am sure he will build you a cue you can use for the rest of your life for that kind of cash.:grin-square:

where do you draw the line on "Custom" cue?
even thou Jacoby has an extensive line of production cues.
they still do alot of custom cues...im pretty sure you can call him up and get a custom cue however you want it. and it wont cost you 3 grand like these smaller Boutique or what people might call "Real custom" cue shops

What makes jacoby not custom? is it just the fact that he makes and sells too many cues?
the hit of there cues is subjective....but they dont hit any worse than any other cuemakers cues. they are certainly just as playable as any cue ive ever had my hands on....they just wouldnt be my first choice....but i do love the looks and designs of alot of there cues
