Opinions On Jump-Break Combo Cues

I would agree with you on this. But I will add that some FISH and SKI boats do both so good that you only get a little advantage from having two boats that are specialized for one thing. And then you have the hassle of taking two boats to the water. You have to dock one while you put the other one in the water, that is if you plan on fishing and skiing both on the same outing. So with the very little advantage that two boats offer, I think I would prefer a really good FISH and SKI boat instead of two boats. Did I mention the HOUSE BOAT that you dock the other boats by? Yeah the main playing boat is slower, but it is the main stay. So now you have to go with three boats, when many people only want to go with one boat. So for most boaters two is company, but three is a crowd. That is the main reason I want a good FISH and SKI boat to carry along with my HOUSE boat. I already know it is a hassle to carry the one extra boat along, but to carry two extra boats along with the main Cruiser is getting to be a little much. :)

Exactly. one or both functions will be compromised, in my opinion.
Best way to avoid carrying 3 cues? Break with your shooter, and get a dedicated jumper. :D
 
I had black phenolic on my jump/break for two years, then I cracked it. I didn't have enough meat above the tennon. My bad. I then put G-10 on because I can. I was very surprise how much better the G-10 holds chaulk over the phenolic. I can do anything I want off the break plus still jump. Unless you need to jump closer than a full ball, I have found I prefer using my jump/break that is slightly heavier than my straight jumper. I get less tail off on longer jumps if that makes any sense?

I'm not sure what your league rules are but in the corn field I'm from we can still use the straight up stuff without a leather tip.

Also, I have a pontoon & an aluminum fishing boat. My pontoon has a 115hp on it & a ski bar. Night quite the same though. :smile:
 
the extra joint is what blows....

yep cowboy everyones right on the money here, your always gonna sacrifice some performance on either side. Plus I never found a 3 piece cue that I really thought was the nuts anyways. That extra joint takes alot away from a cue imop. I'd rather just have a regular two piece super stiff cue with alot of spine to break and jump with, but thats just moi.

I carry all three in My case, along with a couple of extra players. I use the break cue quite often, but sometimes a house cue works well enough for breaking when I'm too lazy to take Mine out. The jump cue, well I usually opt to mase or kick on jump shot opportunities anyhow,so It's rare that It sees any action.

EXACTLY, I have a x-breaker and I can break and control the cue ball, and jump and control it also. All with the G-10 tip. It hols chalk also I just take a little 80 GRIT sand paper and lightly scuff the tip before play everyday before I start and it's ready <<ED
 
my jump break feels about as good as a cue can feel. i had an original MG sledgehammer and it was about as stiff as a cue can get. i dont think jump break construction or reg cue construction should factor in as long as they are built right. youre only hitting the ball in the center and the rack full. you arent playing touch shots or playing feel position shots

Well, 2x4 cases are so common (and cheap if one wishes), how much of a hassle is it really? A playing cue with 2 shafts, a break cue with 1 shaft, a jump shaft, and the jump handle in the pouch. I agree a jump/break is a little more convenient, but unless you are jumping right after the break, you still have to go put your playing cue down, pick up the jump/break, unscrew, shoot, screw it back together, and grab your player again.

Jump/break cues are good sellers.

Jump Break

Since I bought this little Predator Air 3-piece jumper i've gone to a break only cue.
I don't know if it's a better way to go but those little Predators are cool.
What amazes me is watching a couple of guys I know that jack their player up a little and drill the shot over a ball and keep on with the same rythim.
 
I semi-recently purchased a Leon Sly jump/break cue (pics are in the link in my sig) and originally suspected it would do either one or the other better. Honestly, it does both to the same degree....great.

In the past I found that a j/b cue does better in one or the other worlds but not both. Can't say the same about this cue.
