I have never seen the guy play, but judging from his activeness on this board he looks after his fans. That shows a great deal of class. Not too many pros will actively answer questions from fans over a long term period in an organised forum like this. He deserves a great deal of credit for that.

Cheers Keith, if/when I meet you drinks are on me.

I like everyone 'till they piss me off. :D

Keith's great. Watch him play. Totally unconventional style. Has fun. If you're watching, you can't help but want him to win.

I like him simply because he's such a character.....or as we used to say...."he's a trip!".

Just because we's free to be mees!

Because he is just Keith. And he is so entertaining, his talent is limitless and his game is just SCARY. I've had the opportunity to play him a couple of times in the local 9ball tournaments, I remember one night specifically, racing to 7, I finally got an OPEN shot at 6-0. Felt like I was back in elementary school playing KICK BALL. HA. I was trembling like a leaf when I got to the table. He's just personable.

I like Keith just cuz, but more importantly, whats with the dead shark?

Hi Buddha,

My take on the dead shark is:

Spent a week watching and listening to Keith at the DCC. His play was way, way below par. The further into the week he went, the quieter he bacame. Every opportunity he had to play was, oh well, sad. Yound kids spotting him in banks. No one to put up money for him in the ring games. Missing his 9 Ball match in the main event. Thats my take. Perhaps Piggy will give us some further insight.

Maybe he just had an off week? Everyone has slumps man, you don't need to say he's dead, geesh.

Sonja,

I was guessing at the meaning of the photo of the dead shark. Do you have a better idea as to why someone would publish a photo of a dead beached shark on a billiards forum discussing Keith McCready? I think you are taking this too seriously. "Keifer with the Ether" has many, many more games to play. Keith is a favorite here in Rochester. We look forward to seeing him every year for our Joss stop. I agree this was a consistantly bad week (very unusual) for him.

Yeah...No comment from me as to whether or whether not the picture has any metaphorical significance. I will comment that my posting was in reply to 'reasons for liking' The Earthquake.

Some folks see things others do not...

Hi Piggy,

Now you have my interest! What did I miss? My skin is thin so would you please PM me. Thanks.

Everyone has a bad tournament. I think if Keith had to have an event like this year's DCC as long as he was still having events like last year's US Open, he would take it.

Other than the obvious, personality, getting along with everyone and playing ability. I like Keith because he is a big enough man to admit Jean Balukas spanked him, Buddy Hall and Steve Mizerak in the same day. Plus, he recognizes Ronnie Allen as the greatest One Pocket player of all time.

For your information, Cardiac Kid, I had the flu the whole time I was at the Derby City Classic, and as far as me missing a match, they had me scheduled wrong, problem with their software. One time, I was scheduled to play at 6:30 at night, and they called my name at 10:00 in the morning. Another time, they had me scheduled at 11:00 in the morning, and when I came out downstairs to the room, I was told that my opponent was still in the banks tournament and that my match was rescheduled to 9:00 p.m., but I didn't get to play until 11:30 p.m. Another time, I was scheduled at 4:00 in the afternoon and didn't play until 8:30 at night.

As far as me getting a ball from a kid, I'm not too sure where you're getting your information from, but I was spotting him a ball, sick as I could possibly be, trying to get off the nut.

Harry Platis put me up for a ring game that never took place because of the lateness of the hour.

The further in the week, if you think I was quieter, it is because I tried to stay in my room so I could possibly get better and get strong enough to come out and play.

I'm sure if you played in the Derby, everything just went peachy keen, or did it? I shouldn't really have to explain myself like this, but reading your post, I have to say what was the truth.

The one thing that was good for me at the Derby City Classic was seeing some friends that I haven't seen in a while. Hope you enjoy this picture, Hemicudas, taken at the DCC.
