Orange Crusher--get it soon

I recently took advantage of Mike Gulyassy's $100 off sale on Orange Crushers. I really like this break cue a lot. This is the first purpose-built break cue I've owned, so I can't compare it with another break cue. However, it is worlds better than the cue I was using--a purple heart jump cue shaft mated to a McDermott butt. Although that combo had a stiff shaft, a phenolic ferrule, and a break tip, it doesn't begin to compare with the Orange Crusher.

Last week I took the O.C. to play in my BCA 8-B league. Using this cue, I got consistently better spreads on the break than I'm used to. On more than half of the breaks, the majority of the balls ended above the center spot. This cue really delivers a surprising amount of energy to the rack.

Regardless of where it's built, this is a well-made cue. Fit, finish, and attention to detail are first rate.

I pm'd Mike asking if he minded my posting the code for the discount. He didn't say no, so I take that as an implied yes. The code is m02ipa. I asked him how much longer the sale is going to run, and his only answer is that it's over "soon".

Search these forums for other opinions--they're all positive. If you've been debating getting a new break cue, I suggest jumping on this before the sale is over. At $125 this thing is a steal.

I completely agree. This cue has me gushing like a schoolgirl to anyone who will listen. A schoolgirl who can break a rack of 8 ball and get all 15 balls above the side pocket. I'm a big guy, but I've never had the hardest break. I seem to top out at 20-21mph. But with a solid hit on the rack, I've never seen a break cue that opens the rack up quite like this one. Well worth paying full price, but if you get it for $125 it is like stealing.

Dude, do you know how fast 20-21 mph break is? I'd give my left nut for that kind of break speed !!!

Completely agree! I got one and recommend it, that's all I'll say, I've gushed enough, already!

RJ,

20-21 is where I max out. Not a ton of control, but occasionally some. But when you see people that you have 100lbs on who seem to effortlessly hit 25+mph, it doesn't seem that great. And when a little Asian guy cracks them at 30+ consistently, you wonder what you're doing wrong. I've taken dumps bigger than Johnny Archer, but I can't come close to generating the force he does on the break. But thanks to the Orange Crusher I'm a lot happier with it. As long as I drop a ball the run outs seem easier now. And I like the leather tip more than the phenolic tips I've used in the past.

Does the $125 price include shipping?
No, shipping is extra; for me it was $17 (I'm in Illinois). Mike's shop does a great job of packing the cue for shipment: it was packed in bubble wrap and in TWO triangular boxes, one inside the other.

That sounds like a great deal. What type of tip does Mike use on the O.C.?

I believe it is Comic Sans. Not appropriate for most business applications, but Mike's company doesnt' fit the standard 'business' mold, so I think it work for him.

LOL - so much for my proof reading prowess. I did find the answer to my question that the "tip" is a samsara break tip. I found an ad in one of the new mags. He was selling the O.C. for $140 at the SBE. I went ahead a bought one. If nothing else, the bright orange should draw some attention

Hehe, got a chuckle out of that. :)

I believe it has a Samsarra tip if that was the question you were trying to ask.

Can anyone give me specifics on the cue.. I don't see them on the website.

Shaft thickness? Taper pro or parabolic?
Tip type? (I saw someone mention hard leather, if so that's a plus)

The O.C. has a one-piece phenolic ferrule and tip.
Look more closely--you'll see that side of the tip is finished to blend in with the ferrule, but it is in fact a separate tip. Here's Mike G's thread where he states that the tip is a Samsara.

Shaft thickness? 13mmTaper pro or parabolic? Its a very long pro taper. I thought this would be a disadvantage because I am use to a very strong taper like Jerico's stinger but this cue really breaks well. Tip type? (I saw someone mention hard leather, if so that's a plus) The tip is a hard leather tip that is made by samsara.

I just placed my order too. With the $100 discount, it's easy to thank Mike for his part in bringing the SVB/Earl match to us by supporting him.
