ORCOLLO v BIADO (Race to 100/ 10 Ball) $40K at stake (15-17March2019)

I DOUBT very much anything like that will be going on.

I have heard they have very different backers, and doing any kind of funny business with the kind of people that would wager this kind of money in the Philippines might be a very bad idea if you know what i mean

It's comments like these that leave such a bad taste in the public's opinion about pool and gambling!!!

The big matchup starts 13 hours from now 12noon local Philippines time (12 midnite Eastern)

IMHO, Dennis is slight favorite but I think Biado may just spring an upset here. :D

I'm not following you here, what did Terry say that's wrong or leaves a bad taste? I think having them as separate backers makes the match more intriguing.

I think there's certain sect of society that will ALWAYS have a poor view of gambling and therefore pool.

Absolutely not! They have different backers for this match and the money is real! No deals here either. This should be a good one. The only guarantee each player has is a cut of the streaming revenue (maybe 25% each).

What most people don't know about the top Filipino players is they are playing against each other all the time for pecking order over there, and all are money matches. That's how they stay sharp and keep their games tuned up.

Off the table, Carlo and Dennis are friends, but in a match like this there is serious money on the line for both of them. I do know that Dennis plays for 50% of anything he wins in a money match. Carlo probably gets a similar deal. The top players are usually playing for 50%. Lesser players may only get a third of the winnings in money matches.

As I've heard it none of the players playing for big money sets are doing it just for a share of the stream , they are getting appearance money also

great match

dennis is the king but carlo is tough as nails and wouldn't be surprized if he won. Should be close..

i'm not on the good action list but wouldn't mind a $50 sweat bet with one or two people.

i would like to bet on Carlo. can settle via venmo or paypal

No appearance money here! They are both getting a cut of the stream revenue only. This match is worth about 10K to the winner (half the stake). That's 500,000P in the Philippines. A ton of money over there. You can buy a nice car with that. Real nice!

P.S. They're friends before they play and will be friends after it's over. But during the match that's another story. I expect to see some intensity here. Dennis has been the "money game king" for a long time and doesn't want to give up that title. It's like a Heavyweight championship fight. In fact, they call matches like this "Pool fights" over there.

Roy said If I understood him right they had 1mil pesos on the DO vs Chua match. I believe a lot of that was his.

Carlo is a level up from Johann. He is the #1 contender and has been for a couple of years. That's why this match has been long in coming over there. The Pinoys want to see it.
P.S. $20,000 is 1,000,000P! That's the original bet by each side. I'm sure that much and more is being wagered on the side over there. EVERYONE gambles in the Philippines!

While in the US we have a $40K match between Shane Winers and Alex Olinger on a 7ft playing 8b.

Waaaay more bb's in this country than 9ft's and that's never gonna change. Lotta BIG action takes place on them as well. Ever go to the White Diamonds tournament? NO other event has action like that.

Wow
Big Dennis running away with 14 games lead. 35-21
Looks like big lead but on paper, that is like only 1.4 games in race to 10 :)
Biado still can catch up but big uphill battle.
I don't think any one has come back to win 14 games behind in such long race

Alex was down 22 games to Shane in the most well know Race to 100, 10-ball.

Efren was down 17 or 18 to Earl, Race to 120, 9-ball.

Biado has a history of starting off slow and coming from behind to win. Did you see his match against Kaci? I think he was down 12-2 and came back to win 14-19 or something like that. Never count him out.
