Hey Frank, wish you could make the trip down here too. Robb S. says hi BTW. Hopefully it won't be a blood bath trying to get tickets. I am waiting for them to be available. The Convention Center is huge so it should be a blast. I'll take a lot of pics too and send them.

And have been for some time, as reported previously.

Yes, this is not low season in Orlando, I'm guessing.

I found a relatively convenient place for $61/night including tax. It's a national chain, so it couldn't be too bad, could it?

It depends if you are playing in the tournament. I am just going to watch and will drive in. It doesn't matter if the place I am staying at is 20 miles away, it's just a place to sleep and I will drive in each day for the tournament. You should have a car though because I am sure there will be stuff going on in the area and when the tournament is not going on. It won't be like the Derby, there will be nothing to do after hours. You will want to go to the local pool rooms who I am sure will plan some stuff at the time, house tournaments what ever or just some action.

If you go t o a Denny's and pick up the coupon book, you will be able to find many places (chains) on Intnl Drive for that rate or better. The Rodeway Inn might even be under $40.

I found large discrepancies with some national chain hotels in the Orlando area according to the TripAdvisor.com popularity index which rated 281 hotels in the Orlando vicinity.

DAYS INN No. 229 [2500 West 33rd Street]
"Horrible." "Terrible filth." "Bad location."

DAYS INN No. 240 [7200 International Drive]
"Not an enjoyable stay." "Shocking."

DAYS INN No. 245 [5827 Caravan Court]
"Somebody call the health department.

DAYS INN No. 257 [2323 McCoy Road]
"What a sick joke." "What a dump.""Am I in the wrong hotel?"

DAYS INN No. 211 [7335 Sand Lake]
"What a rat hole." "Best value for the money."

DAYS INN No. 176 [9301 S. Orange Blossom Trail]
"Good, clean, basic accommodations."

Shorty referenced "Orange Blossom Trail" earlier in this thread.

LA QUINTA NO. 123 [11805 Research Parkway]
"Very clean." "No major problems."

LA QUINTA NO. 213 [5621 Major Boulevard]
"Extremely disappointing." "Unpleasant environment." "Disappointing all around."

LA QUINTA NO. 216 [626 Lee Road]
"If you don't mind roaches.

LA QUINTA No. 50 [8300 Jamaican Court]
"Perfectly fine." "V. Goof." "Value for the money."

LA QUINTA No. 20 [8504 Universal Boulevard]
"Was nice." "Comfy beds." "Nice hotel."

Nostroke, there is a Rodeway Inn in Orlando, 6327 International Drive, convenient to the Conference Center, average price $69 per night. However, some of the reviews went like this: "Nice hotel and location." "Very good for what you pay for." "Never never again." "Beware."

If I had my choice, I would have stayed at the Peabody Hotel, right across the street from the Orlando/Orange County Convention Center, but they were sold out. I would have enjoyed the world-renown comfortable beds and the daily duck march through the lobby of the hotel every morning! :p

AT $69.95 id look elsewhere- I paid $24.95 with the coupon but it was 3 years ago. Demand must be much higher now.
