Oscar Dominguez Becomes the First East Coast 9-Ball Champion!

Oscar was on the last winning team for the USA . He was one of the reasons for us winning that year. He has the right type of game for that format and was/is a true gentleman that would always represent out country in a positive way, win or lose.
congratulations Oscar on your win in the east coast.

Agreed. Total professional and monster player! A great asset to the game!

This is the exact platform that professional pool needs. It is good to see that it worked and that they had a full field of competitors.

Gosh, maybe there's still hope for a pro tour down the road.

Jen, Ozzy does a great job....and Diamond Billiards, Midlothian is a great venue!

My heart would have dropped if Stevie Wonder walked in.

Stevie did try to get in, but he walked into a wall outside the front doo and lost a couple minutes getting to the event.

C'mon out more often. You might run into him one of these days.

I have heard nothing but GREAT words about this pool room. I have not been there yet, but it's on my bucket list for sure. :)

Diamond Billiards has a great cam feed every day, from open to close. Go to their website and click live streaming. Larry, Jorden, Shuff, Calvin, Shorty, Big Don, and I'm mising someone....ohh yea....Matt 24! Beware the mattster. He's cagey...lol.

I agree completely! Although we fell well short of our goal of a $32,000 prize fund, this event planted a seed and proved that the model works. The field was super strong and the atmosphere was electric! I believe the next one could be bigger and better.

It was refreshing to see two complete gentlemen in the finals. Both are awesome players and all around good guys. I have never heard either one complain about anything. That's rare!

I was at a local pool room two weeks ago and Oscar was playing well spotting a very good player the last 3 and 12 to 9 in their race. He continues to improve and maybe he should have been a member on the Mosconi Cup this year. I think he is one of our rising stars and maybe one of our best.

Are you the Baby Huey from the wash metro area

Yes Oscar plays very strong his dad has taught him well ,,seen him play many times at VF ,,I was talking with a friend of mine before the turny started , I said he is going to be hard to beat in that field
I know Brian well his dad Ed was one of the top one pocket players in area and then some ,,he had a killer run knocking off many good players
A big congrats to him also

well...maybe not as awesome as ^this, but still awesome!!

Seven is there any way you can get her to pause when she gets to the panties?

I understand what you're saying but are you sure that East Coast didn't just refer to the location of the tournament and not who could enter it? What about everyone between the coasts?

It might not be a bad idea, though, to have an Eastern Division and a Western Division of a single format and then a final shootout between the two winners.

It is well known when you name an event within a country with East, West, North or south it is suggestive of localized event to that reign; possibly adding "open" to the name opens it up to all. I do love the idea or States divisions tournaments like football with Supper Pool Ball
Bob i appreciate your reply. some might have miss understood my intention, i kind of wanted the local Eastern red hot boys to battle it together, not that i hate Oscar , in the contrary he is a good player and i like him, despite my opinion.
I think Mr Reynolds did great job, i am only expressing opinion.

First, I am a fan of Oscar and have a lot of respect for his work ethic and how he represents himself, the game and his family. That being said, Oscar went 2-3 in the 2009 Mosconi Cup with his 2 wins coming in partners. So I agree that this format fits his game as far as the "team" environment but I am not sure that stands true for singles.

****Edit - Technically he went 3-3 if you count the full 5 man team match****

I have known the D.C. area Baby Huey for many, many years, and I know him very well. His real name is Cameron. I don't think this is him.

No it is not "Baby Huey" on AZB is from So Cal. Top 1 pocket player

Clarification

The original intention was to hold qualifiers from Maine to Florida, hence the name East Coast 9-Ball Championship. However, we encountered resistance in the north with other tours pressuring pool rooms to back out. Additionally, it was difficult to get the word out in the south because the APT had no presence there. Therefore, we became confined to the mid-Atlantic.

Calling it an "open" would not be accurate because only qualifier winners could participate.

We are honored that Oscar came all the way from CA to participate.

Thanks for the clarification, at least Brian D. got a piece of the pie, maybe it will spring some action to watch. Big thanks to you for everything, the stream was great, at times was lagging, possibly due to huge internet traffic due to snow storm Sunday.

Makes you feel good about the future when everyone is working together like that! LOL
