OTLB meets RKC

today was one of the best days I have had in a long time. Glen and Jackie showed up right on time and installed two smart tables in my local room here in Torrington..... It was fun to meet a fellow mech\tech who shares so many of the same goals and interests. Certainly it was of particular delight to watch someone else do the work for a change. Learned many new things today about tables, Glen and myself. We are much the same. Yes we do argue but as a result of that I think our meeting went even better. Naturally he has my respect now more then before.

To view his glue method I set up a GC in my warehouse( thats mech talk for garage). After reviewing this process I found it to be superior and will be doing them this way in the future without question. Of course it will probably have an OTLB twist to it somewhere as you can imagine. There are some things within the stretch pattern that are extremely appealing and address some issues that I have had a problem with in the past. All in all I say that after you have mastered this method you will be levels above most guys.

All the time in this forum I have only proposed different ways of getting the job done. To continue this mindset is why I wanted to spend time with Glen which resulted in many positive footnotes. The future is bright only when you have goals and are able to work towards them. Its nice to see a fellow American display the qualities that made this country what it use to be. We should all strive to that same end.

Certainly it will not be our last meeting and consider him more of a friend now. There is never enough time when you meet someone you like so I look forward to seeing him again. Maybe I will be spraying down my glue with an air gun, who knows but I must one up him and wait for the return volley. Remember if it isn't fun why are you doing it anyways. Its always fun when you know what to do or know you can count on someone to help. The road of a pool table mech isn't one that many people can I understand or appreciate. To me, I don't know how it could get much better.

Write a job description for what we do and after you realize the job you have its not hard to understand how great it really is. BOY, I love this work.

Glad to see all is well with you two, and when everybody starts to understand what Glen is really trying to accomplish with all the mechanics, then and only then we will all start to do tables the right way. I'm not saying we do them wrong, I'm saying that when the table is complete, you won't be able to tell witch one of us did it. The tables will all look and play perfect.

I can't wait for my (RKC) lessons. I speak with Glen all the time on the phone, and he's a great guy to take with, I do very good work now, but I know when Glen is done with me, I'll do fantastic work.

Like I said, (HE IS THE MAN) working on tables.
He covers all questions with down to the T answers on everything.

I'm waiting Glen !!!!!!!!
P.S. You can't bet me playing pool though
Hope you both had a great time together working.
Be safe

This thread, and this post in particular are what keeps me coming back to this forum.

I consider myself a very good table mechanic. But reading this forum, listening to the ideas and opinions that everyone presents has made me a better table mechanic.

Yes, the Cobra and OTLB met up...finally:grin: and I finally won out on my gluing system:grin::grin: We got to talk quite a bit, and John is pretty down to earth, I can see working with John in the future quit a bit more as well. I have to say though, in arm wrestling...even if he did try and put all his weight on my arm, even to the extent of coming up off the table with his and throwing his upper body into it....he couldn't budge my arm a bit:grin: I just laughed at him like...is that all you've got?:grin: would have body slamed him...but ever try and arm wrestle on a pool table...where the rail is under YOUR arm? kind of makes it hard to body slam the other guy...but my arm never left the table:grin:

did I read in there somewhere where you beat me? you did beat me at the dinner table. All the Chinese girl said was " you go now, you go now"

did I read in there somewhere where you beat me? you did beat me at the dinner table. All the Chinese girl said was " you go now, you go now"

And then the old cook cam out and yelled, "Is no can you eat it all. You go now'!

I enjoyed the read. Thanks for sharing.

:rotflmao1::rotflmao1::rotflmao1:
So, since the glue method is officially "in", and chinese food is out, which one of you two crazy bubble chasers do I get to armwrestle first?lol

Good coverage, glad to see you two are on the same trail together....only good things can come about from it.
Although I have to admit, I never saw that picture coming in any near future!lol

BTW we didn't play pool --- good thing, I spent enough that day. I bet on sure things, thats why I bought the Smart tables. And as long as everything goes right will be buying alot more. Already have two leagues starting on them exclusively.
