Outstanding Chicago Table Mechanic (There is a God) Brunswick GCIII

Jerimy Chambers 708.574.9888 is one of the best kept secrets in Chicago for experienced high quality table work.

I originally had my table setup by an unnamed local mechanic installing Granito Basalt Cloth from Gorina. I got the cloth
for free as part of the cost of the table. ( I guess it wasn’t free in retrospect)

Thanks to this forum I was able to find Glen “Realkingcobra”. He performed a miracle (IMO, just another job for him)
in recalibrating my rails with new Intercontinental Cushions (recommended by Glen). He came in with Josh Ebert and
Don from Absolute Billiards. Glen came from the west coast, Josh and Don drove in from Ohio, for an opportunity to
work with Glen and his special technique to recalibrate old GC rails to perfect billiard standards. You might say they
Diamondized my GCIII.

Gorina is good... but it’s not Simonis. Simonis is what I play leagues on and is really, IMO, the benchmark for
comparing other cloths. I just never liked the Gorina cloth. Fortunately I bought some Simonis 860HR for $130!
(yes, that is a fantastic deal and no, there is none left at that price)

I called Simonis who recommended Jerimy Chambers. In canvassing the best pool rooms in Chicago Jerimy’s name
repeatedly came up. I literally kept looking for other names. It was sorta funny. “Who does your tables, who
would you recommend?” Jerimy Chamber… like a broken record!

I contacted Jerimy and was working with him to decide to re-stretch my Gorina cloth (for more speed) or just replace
it. As usual the best mechanics have work… they have more work than they can handle actually. And it took a few
weeks for Jerimy to get to my relatively small job. The mission was to re-level the table, and install the Simonis 860HR
cloth. I won’t tell you how much he charged, but it was extremely reasonable. So much so after the job I wanted to
give him a tip. He wouldn’t accept one… and I’m not talking $5! I was in awe… You see Jerimy is a 2nd generation
mechanic. He started out doing rails for his dad after school, until he was big enough to help carry the slates and do
installs. It’s in his blood. He charges a fair price for his work and that’s it.

All I can say is I have worked with the best mechanics on this table (and the worst IMO ). Jerimy is not the kind
of guy to blow his own horn. He does what he does. End of story. He’s good. In Chicago he’s one of, if not THE best
table mechanic. Jerimy also restores tables, builds tables and makes pool cues. You’ll find his name mentioned on
this forum a couple of times. Believe it.

So now that I have the perfect table, the best cloth, my OB Classic Shaft with Kamui soft tips… Now I just need to
find my game!

Great post, nice recommendation.

As far as your game goes, you might play a little better if you only use one cueball at a time :)

I had him do a Brunswick Montebello with 860, for me a couple years ago. His work was very good.

Finally

Ya know... I was really having a problem with position.. So I thought, if I had more than one cue ball,
it would help me run more balls. I also count the cue ball as a point, if it is pocketed. My high run has
been 3 so far... not counting the cue balls. With the cue balls it has been 5. Thank you for the suggestion.

I have played on that Gorina cloth and I know what you mean. To me it seems to skid a bit too much. I think it's what they had on some of the tables at Chris's Billiards in Chicago but I'm not sure of that.

Nice table you got there, it looks like they did a good job on it.

Agreed.
He has a lot of tables for me and they have always been top notch. I recommend him all the time.

hmmm

I am not sure but I think there is a tree growing out of that sump pump!!! Sweet table!

I noticed that too ... funny..

Now, if only Pyramid Club could hire this guy for their tables ;) We would be set for league !!!

Hey RJ, Are you implying that your unhappy with the table mechanic that did the 7 tables at The Pyramid? After all he did use three different types of cloth and then stretched all 7 tables completely differently. Truth is the guy did a complete hack job, the old tables he did not touch are better than the ones he did! What a waste of money....

Hey Ron,

yep, that is what I"m saying. Man, the rail cloth is already coming off some of the rails, as it appears there was only about 1/4 inch of felt used to tuck between the rail and the bumper. I mean, I know nothing about installing anything, but I gotta think you would need just a little more slack, like a few inches to make that work.......

Who was the table mechanic. Nobody seems to know for sure ???

Ted - Does Jerimy glue the cloth to the sides of the slate or does he use staples?

Jerimy did my table and does a nice job. He also did all the tables at the Illinois Billiard Club and all the tables at Red Shoes and they are all great.
I know he transported an Anniversary table up to Wisconsin for a friend of mine and did a good job on that table, too.

Seems to be a pattern here. :D

Hey RJ, The owner was asked but never gave up the name of the mechanic. All he would say was who referred him. The guy was contacted about the poor work but has not replied from what I heard...

Pyramid - Red Shoes... again

Don't look now but Jerimy Chambers got called back to Red Shoes to re-cover their tables.

Pyramid finally gave Jerimy Chambers a call and he is slated to recover theirs as well.
