Bill would open pool halls to people under 18:

He calls it his "anti-Music Man bill."

Instead of diverting youths away from the pool hall as in the musical "The Music Man," Sen. Jeffrey Piccola, R-Dauphin County, is pushing a bill that invites youngsters inside them. The bill would repeal a 19th-century law that bars anyone under the age of 18 from entering a pool hall.

"Times have changed. Pool halls and billiard parlors are now looked at as family enterprises," Piccola said.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the bill Tuesday. It now goes to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The issue arose last summer when Paxtang officials told him the law hurts BCA Billiards and Game Room, which opened in Paxtang with the intention of being a family establishment.

My local room owner from Fitch's Billiards in Easton, PA has begun the revolution on this ancient law. He will be having the local paper The Express Times come and do an interview with him about the discrimination that his hall is facing. There are 5 other pool rooms within 15 miles of his and NO ONE else is having this problem. Scott has been on the phone non stop with representatives in our senate and with Gov Rendell. The bill should be going to the House within a week, and then once passed there to the Gov to be signed into law. Basically they are removing the old law. The police have already fined him once and one of his employees once!!!!

I ask any and all room owners in PA and surround areas to call Scott and give him some firepower with the newspapers or more information on helping us in PA get this law undone. They have closed him down on Sundays as well, and patrol his parking lot every 20 minutes!!!

This is injustice to him, as he has been a room owner for 16 years and the top table mechanic in this tri state area. He has done nothing but good with the communities he's been in. He doesn't charge for lessons when you need help, he helps kids with their homework, and even lends an ear to the kids problems that they have!

His contact info is as follows:

Thanks!!!

I guess giving a short synopsis of the law affecting this owner is too much to askk, rather than following an offsite link to even have a clue as to what you are talking about.

Meh. I can't be bothered to follow a link to information which should have been included in the post...

Surprise suprise!!!! Just to satisfy my curiosity after I posted the above post, I followed your link.

Which was a bad link.

Note to self: ANY time I find an interesting news link, ALWAYS copy the text of the article (including the source) into any post I may make concerning the article. Including the source of the article will satisfy any copyright issues.

This prevents having a bunch of clueless people reading your thread when the news site changes it's front page, thereby breaking your link.

Yea, Russ, I guess cut-n-paste is above his pay grade. If you want help, and you may get it, post the law.

You know. Having read this. It looks like the people that thought of this, are some repressed old farts who most likely feel they have that MORAL authority who think they know what is good for us. (All the while, they probably lead double lives and might even have a secret stash of GASP...

PORN

Hidden away so that when no ones looking, they can go wild)

The name SPITZER comes to mind.
F-in hypocrites!!!
If you don't want the pool hall to be open on sunday cause of your beliefs or open late cause you can't control your own damn kids and feel that everyone should abide by YOUR scheduling, That's YOUR problem, not everyone else's!
As for everyone else's kids, leave that issue to their parents.

I wish i knew who these people were so i could spit on them.

THIS is the type of $#!& that is ruining this country.
OLD GEEZERS IN POWER MUST DIE!!!

Someone forgot to take their medication...

I don't really want to change the subject, but underneath my avatar, it DOES say sociopath, but putting that aside.

I am not someone who willingly lets someone bend me over and give me the business if you know what i mean.

SO.

The geezers in charge that feel the need to make rules for the masses based on their beliefs that feel the need to impose those rules/regulations/and beliefs on people who do not give a crap, can just hop in their car, go down the road, crash and die.
And, after seeing on the news that the old retards did indeed crash and die, i will might just have to do the "OH WHAT A FEELING... TOYOTA" jump to celebrate.

Also, i do not suffer from depression, OCD, bulimia, or panic disorder so at the very least, you could get it right and say something like...."did someone forget their Thorazine today? or even better yet, Did someone forget their electro-shock treatments today?"

At least that way, you would be implying that i am just flat out nuts, which is probably closer to the truth when i start thinking about those geezer/holier then thou retards who put such laws on the books.
