Paragraphs

This is pool related for me since I only read the pool threads :) , so I hope its ok to post here. I enjoy reading all the posts, but I wonder if I could remind some of the folks posting that some of us are getting old and blind and a few paragraphs sprinkled through the longer posts would be nice. :o

It always makes reading easier on the eye when paragraphs separate thoughts. With so much great information, I hate to have these aging eyes give up before I’ve read each one.

Some of the posts are full page without so much as one break in the writing. I think lots of readers end up just skimming through these rather than trying to read them.

After taking so much time to document your thoughts, I think its important that you give your writings a better shot of being read through completely.

Thanks for listening …

And I will agree to this... I often see a huge reply, skim for keywords, and then go to the next which is more easily read.

Not that I am aging, but I have 20/225 eye sight in my right eye and breaks in paragraphs help the words from doubling up :)

Yes, this is all very good, but you will have more success herding cats or pushing ropes.

Many many moons ago, in a rec.????? group far far away, I suggested that with all this new fangled Internet stuff, folks may actually improve their writing skills. The consensus at that time (1992 or 3) was that I was a fool (apparently they were right ... ever been to a chat room where kids/teens hang out ? ).

Just wait another twenty years when nobody has seen the correct spelling of a word for a decade or so, let alone correct sentence structure and punctuation. It's gonna be off the hook!

Speaking of spelling...I've been meaning to post this link...hopfully it will catch on;
http://www.iespell.com/
It puts a small button on you're toolbar...after writing a post just click on it and it will go through and spell check it for ya.

see, you can't even spell it right.....it's "off the hizook" man!, pay attention. :D

I have no training in proper writing structure, but the google spell check helps out "alot" ;)

also, the text craze with truncated words isn't helping any....

it's true, I think people skim right over tight blocks of text. Some people can say some intelligent stuff but I might end up skipping over it cuz it looks like they're just rambling and typing without 'pausing for breath' so to speak.

I also automatically skip all caps posts. I think only collectionsguru still does that but anyway people should know that kind of typing tends to cause a lot of people to pass over your post.

I mentioned the same thing, over a year ago and not much came of it, outside of a few rep points which were nice.

I like to make a new paragraph for every thought in a post. It makes it easier for people to read.

To people who don't believe in paragraphs, you should realize that much of what you post isn't being read as it is too difficult on the eyes.

An ex girlfriend used to write notes to me always skipping caps, and every time I see a post written deliberately without caps, it just looks feminine to me. lol

Edit - Duh, all caps and skipping caps. I should know the difference.

well you folks aren't paid to work on those skills with them.

The horror only gets better the more you try to push.

At least they are talking, before the internet I use to see truckloads of kids just standing in the schoolyard, just standing, who knows what they were thinking, if they were thinking at all.

Kevin's post had great timing in reading through the thread, comically well done.
