Parica vs. Paez 4 day Money Match at Bellflower Hardtimes?

I was at the pool hall last night telling a friend about the three day "Color of Money Hong Kong Challenge match I have on DVD between Strickland and Reyes as they played for $100,000.As some of you may not know Reyes won that match by a very close 120-117

He then told me about a 4 day match that apparently happen between Ismael Paez and Jose Parica at a pool hall near L.A.He said they played for plenty of cash and there were a lot of backers.He said in the end Parica finally won the match by running (or perhaps he meant just winning)14 racks in a row.Apparently all this happened about 10 years ago

Has anyone else heard of this match, or was anyone there?Can anyone substanciate that Parica did runout 14 in arow to put the final nail in Paez's coffin.How much did Parica eventually win?I would have loved to see a match like this on DVD, because there is something about bigmoney matches that tournament play doesn't offer.

Other than that, what's the biggest money match you have ever wittnessed between two reputable pros.I find the stories intresting.

In a nutshell, Parica won and won big. He did NOT run out the last 14 racks in a row. He may well have won the last 14 games in a row though. he did win a bunch at the end.

I was 99.9% sure he didn't break and run 14 in a row, otherwise we would have heard of that by now.

That Paez is an amazing player considering how much he jumps up and twists on his english.I wonder how well he'd do in snooker with that style?

Parica himself does claim to have played Morro for about 13-15 hours once where Morro was ahead one game in a 13 ahead set (Morro was getting the 8) and Parica ran the set out from there. This was at Hardtimes in Bellflower.

I have heard Parica tell this story 100+ times.

Paez was featured quite liberally in the book "Playing Off the Rail" by David McCumber, and plays (or played) in some of the biggest money games in the world on a 6X12.

I did not know of this.
Efren and Grady played a major one-hole money match there as well back in thge early 90's.
I saw some parts of the the video. Efren was coughing every other shot. He smoked then and smoking was allowed at HT then. YIKES!

13-15 hours is a lot less than a four day match.Stories tend to get stretches from person to person.Your (and Parica's)version sounds a little more realistic.

Thanks for that info,much appreciated.It's amazing what talent can do despite the best mechanics.The way Paez came back to oust Strickland in the 2000 WPC semi final was something to behold.His charisma defintly made him a crowd favorite.
