I might lower the number. I was talking about it with my wife. We talked of the surprising number of middle age + people we know who have been seriously hurt on bikes. Some of the ones we know of could have been worse. I like to drive to the pool hall myself.

Bikes and cars do not mix. Sometimes bikes and bikes do not mix. Had a friend on a group ride. The group went down. He woke up in the hospital paralyzed.

I've ridden my entire life and what most bikers know is that other drivers unconsciously don't see bikes. It's a heuristic thing. They expect to see another vehicle, not a bike or motorcycle, and in that 0.2 of a second, until it registers with them, all kinda bad shit can occur.
I've had people literally try to drive over me bcuz they didn't see me. After that, I switched to Harleys.
They might not See me, but can sure as hell Hear me.

i drive a harley as well. no longer do the bike thing. mostly because i dont want to. never in traffic. why when you have a car.
and if you dont have a car, and can physically bike there is something wrong with you.

best not to drive a bike in traffic. on country roads its fine. now every idiot is texting while they drive or yapping on the phone.

get better pat and stay off bikes on the road and go on a trail.
