*^*^* Pat's 14.1 Lessons *^*^*

available in the archives now!!

I was watching it live, the time suits me even though I have to get up early in the morning ;) The first lesson wasn't anything new for an advanced player, but since Pat decided to give classes for everyone regardless of their skill, it's obvious he couldn't jump to some complicated things from the very beginning. First lesson magnified some "weak" spots (like an additional mik needed for the questions on location), and I'm sure next time everything will be OK.
Telestrator thing is very promising. (Pat is going to draw lines and positions live right on the table).
At last I have got a chance to learn from a knowledgeable straight pool player, and the price is more than affordable!

I can't do it yet. Have a friend coming over for some 14.1 in half an hour and league Monday, but soon. :)

I saw the first show. I call it a show rather than a clinic with all the fancy cameras, monitoring, a chat room, and Pat being in great form. There were very good questions from the audience. I can't wait until next week. I'm glad I have a PayPal account.

I tried the practice drill that Pat demonstrated at the end of the show. It's harder than I thought it would be.

as for the drill, it's good, and maybe it's suitable for the beginners in first turn, because there is no need to focus on pocketing the ball. At the same time I would recommend the drill from PAT (iPAT) training course, look here. But instead of follow think of a stop shot. Alter distance between cb and ob up to your skill (2 to 5 diamonds). Set up a straight shot and watch the cb stop dead, preferably no rolling, no side spin.

Ok , I got this email from Accu-Stats with this weeks Game Show schedule and the info about "Pat's 14.1 Lesson #2".

Watching it now. Cool.

It was pretty basic stuff so far, but I guess he has to start at the beginning.

It is too late for me to watch live, but I look forward to the next archived lesson.

I attended the first lesson at breakers as I'm only about a 15 minute drive away. I'll be attending all of them if I can. I'm really happy to see someone putting up the effort that Pat has to do something interesting and different, especially as regards to straight pool.

I think Pat has to work out how much time to devote to questions. It's one thing if there are questions that clarify something he is teaching, but it can get out of hand if he lets the questions stray too far from the subject and take too much time. I know he's trying to limit the questions to the topic at hand, so we'll see how well he's able to manage that.

In all, the first lesson was mostly a review of terminology and basic rules of the game. If you listen carefully, though, I think players of all abilities will learn at least one little thing they didn't know. That's easily worth $5.

you have a point here, questions that are not relevant to the topic being covered at the moment could be left for the end of a class.

Lesson 2

I benefited from lesson 2 in particular and gained new knowledge that hopefully will translate into longer runs.
Hopefully these will become available in DVD or on a quarterly unlimted access subscription to the lessons so that they can be viewed more than just within a 24 hour period.
In any event, for me the knowledge transfer from lesson 2 far exceeded the price of admission.
For what it's worth.
