people asking what my personal cue is? here it is!

Joe, I think the cue is worth what someone will pay for it wheather you buy direct from the cuemaker or thru another party. That's all I am saying. Most of the cues my friend buys are " Special ". It is how he likes to invest. I understand what you are saying about devaluing a cuemakers cues. That is what I don't understand about this thread. Cue was listed at $20,000. The guy paid $18,000 and then tried to sell it for $15,000. Why would somebody lose 25% on a cue deal. I have cues I bought from Espiritu in 99. They arn't going anywhere until I can at least get my money back and a little more. Go figure!!!!

Don,
Forget this thread, LOL. You can buy smart, or you can buy stupid. People need to do research before they buy. There are certain cues that sell well, there are certain cues that do not.

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE HOBBIES/BUSINESS' THAT DON'T EVER REALLY MAKE ANY SENSE. I HAVE BOUGHT AND SOLD AND TRADED ALOT OF CUES(NOT AS MANY AS SOME OF YOU GUYS, I'M STILL YOUNG) AND DON'T THINK ANY DEAL EVER MADE FULL SENSE. AS LONG AS I'M HAPPY WHEN IT'S OVER IT WORKS FOR ME.

In the past I know that I have bought very, very stupid...lol. Lots of money, for me anyhow, just wadded up and thrown away!

Zack, I think we all have made our share of bad deals. Then again, from time to time we make money. It is a tough business, but it is fun.

This is all that really matters.. as long as both parties are feeling good after the deal.

There are spur of the moment deals too. This is wjere you can accept a temporary loss for a higher gain based on an existing offer. ;)

Wow! These forums are great! Eveyone sharing opinions and ideas. Gotta love it! Just think, about a month ago, Bill (cornerstone) posts pics of his playing cue and everyone oggles at them and drools. I go ahead and make the comment that Richard Black cues don't play as good as they look and, before you know it, there's a 5 page thread of people fighting, threatening, etc. All because I don't like Richard Black cues!

Well, here it is for all of you out there who read, disagreed, had disagreements, etc. I'm sorry! I have my opinion. I base it on the several Blacks I've played with. They were all duds. I also base it on the opinions of others who played with the same as well as other cues and felt the same way. But, that's just me and just my opinion. If you love Black's cues, play with them until the cows come home. I've got a few cues that I love that would probably leave people scratching their heads as to why I play with them but, I love 'em!

Bottom line: Opinions are like rectums (cleaned up version)! Everyone's got one and most of them just plain stink! Mine included.

Sorry for the hassles. Didn't mean to rub anyone the wrong way.

What's even more interesting about this thread is the following:

Everyone will probably agree that most cuemakers nowadays can make a GREAT playing cue....yes, even Richard Black sometimes.

Everyone can probably also agree that the consistency in workmanship, the refinements and embellishments, design/asthetics, and especially consistent playability is what makes a TRULY GREAT CUEMAKER. The number of those is quite limited compared to the number of cuemakers that are out there today.

But you've unearthed the REAL TREASURE in this thread when you come to know the drivers behind all of this bickering...the allegations, innuendo, and statements.

~~ Reading the words......hillarious.

~~ Understanding the facts.....PRICELESS !!! :)

Well in Blacks case I have seen some great ones and some that you would think were made by a total newbie. But I can say this about some other cuemaker.. had it not be for his name... people would call him out the same way.

Hmmmm.... you got me thinking now. I can name at least three or four who make ugly cues that play like a dream and a few guys who make beautiful cues that I wouldn't even bring to the table.

I don't want to spill any names though (unless someone else does first)! ;)
