Earl just made an awesome kick-carom making the 9 ball for a big win. He did a "table-stab" simulation in celebration. We love you Earl!!!

And then there's this, World-Class Champion Earl Strickland accepting his 2006 Hall of Fame Award from the Billiards Congress of America (BCA), wearing the traditional green jacket only worn by champions.

Jennie, it seems that some people revel in Earl's fall from grace as one of pool's greatest players.

It even seems that some people revel in the demise of his health and at every opportunity, some choose to shout taunts of Earl's declining health.

This type of behavior is unseemly for any man or woman, especially for members of our particular fraternity. Don't get me wrong I think everyone has a right to their opinions but to become like a pack of wolves looking for weakness and illness to portray on a regular basis of one of pool's greatest players is simply inappropriate behavior.

I have had problems with Earl's behavior and do not condone some of the things he has done, nor even some of the things I have done.

If Earl were healthy, I could understand some of the piling on that has been done here on this forum. It has been substantiated that he has some serious health issues and yet we see our fellow forum members pile on at every opportunity.

I hope Earl gets better and I hope our forum takes a close look at itself and makes likewise needed improvements.

This forum is better than what we currently exhibit.

We can do better and we should do better, if we truly love the sport as much as we say we do.

I hope you guys don't think I'm taunting Earl. I'm a huge fan in fact. I just love how intense he is in this match, through the good and bad rolls. If you've seen this match (2000 US OPEN finals) - he makes three mind-blowing shots...and went un-defeated through that tourney...for his 5th US OPEN victory. I hope Earl makes it back to this level of play.

I think it's rather interesting the way people like to bash Earl all the time.I think it gives them something to talk about and focus on.Honestly,I think people focus on other peoples problems because it takes there focus away from themselves. This way they don't have to look at themselves and face who they are.Believe me,this statement comes from somebody who will openly admit that I have done my fair share of gossiping throughout my years.I still admit that I focus on other peoples dirty laundry in an attempt to boost myself up.I don't think it is right, but it is what it is.

I was there, I saw it. He played brilliantly in some of his earlier matches. I'm really hoping Earl gets back to form. When he's playing well, he's incredible to watch.

I must admit that there is a little Earl in me at times (don't take that out of context). I actually really enjoy watching him play. His antics are very exciting and just plain enjoyable to watch.

Eric.

Don't get me wrong, I love to watch him play, he's one of the best!

Do nothings

I am so sick of the Earl bashing threads on AZ billiards. Mr. Wilson you suck to let this continue. Mr. Strickland has a great desire to win, some-thing you non-playing jerks will never understand because you can't drive a ball to a rail and never will.

It is fun to see someone bash someone for bashing other people. I know it shouldn't be, but the irony is just plain fun. It is like the eye-for-an-eye theory, but no eyeballs are involved.

i'm a bigger earl fan than anybody so if this thread was bashing him i would be the first to moan. but matt didn't start the thread to ash him. he just posted a photo which he felt showed Earl at his most typical when things aren't going right for him. and his follow up posts were just gentle teasing with JAM in jest that's all. he did end his first post with LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY EARL...
