I've said it before...
Take two of the 12 hour Sudafed...the good ones behind the counter...and a Full Throttle drink. You won't miss a ball for 24hrs.;)

What does this concoction do? Help you focus, feel better, or?

Flex, it gives you an "enhancement" similar to the under the counter favorites of many "chemical" players. Basically makes you very alert, lots of energy, almost an electric buzz like you could play for days without end.;)
...or so I've been told.:D

Yeah, you'll be flying high with this concoction. I think I'll stick to one red bull every couple of hours. For those of you that drink alcohol for a match, I don't think you're going to play your best pool after a few, but you may at least think you're playing your best game. I know drinking is fun and all, but I'd rather save the fun 'til after I win the money. I guess the same goes with the mary jane.

Hmmm.... this is something else.

Just checked Walgreens web site and there are a bunch of different kinds. http://www.walgreens.com/search/search_results.jsp?_dyncharset=ASCII&term=sudafed&x=0&y=0

Which one or ones are you referring to?

You have to go down to your local store to get the ones with pseudoephedrine in them and show your ID to the person behind the counter. They're 120mg with a 12 hour release. The reason I know is because I always use these when I get sick. They work great to dry you out.

The other performance enhancer is a routine of regular trips to the beach for a walk and a swim.

VIP,
OUCH!!!!! Big-time negative rep to you for continuing to remind us that you're there (and we're not). Though I am stuck here in the middle of the great Corn Forest, I don't need to be continually reminded of your proximity to the beach, the nice weather, the beautiful girls in thongs, the wind blowing through the palms, the view from Magen's Bay.........damn, I need to buy a ticket to the Caribbean, this place sucks.....please ignore this post.

You know I have tried many things in the past. The thing I have learned is to stay far far away from caffeine as possible. The caffeine makes me a little jittery.I try to eat a lite meal and drink plenty of water. This just seems to work for me.

Flex...ABall is correct. You got to show your id & get the ones behind the counter in the 12hr. blue/white box.
It says "take 1" but thats for a runny nose...."take 2" is for playing pool.:D
And don't forget to wash it down with the Full Throttle or a couple of Red Bulls.;)

Dont take anything out of the ordinary. I went through the gambling stage with people that insisted on "enhancing" themselves through home made speed or over the counter stuff. I never took speed or drugs or anything of that nature, but did do a redbull in tournaments and one thing that is consistent is that your game wont be.

Even the crackheads on drugs will come out shooting like you wouldnt believe but their speed would be off or they would tire and then need more eventually resulting in them not being able to run a rack to save their life even if they keep the speed. I had a scotch doubles partner who believed the home made speed was the way to go. He ended up not being reliable, VERY inconsistent, and the drugs jacked his teeth up so bad you would pay money to watch him eat corn on the cob.

The best thing to do for yourself is to not drink any caffeine products so you dont have any highs or lows. Get used to the consisent feel of your game. Eat regularly and healthy and you'll know every time you play that you wont be affected or on a high or a low.

The best thing to do vs people on speed and other things to jack them up is to slow play them with excessive safeties or take your time :) They'll get so frustrated their game goes all to hell.

edit: Also if you're on speed or some variation you instantly become super pool player of the world and "think" you can make every shot every time and forget to play safe and can lose that way too.

Those are my opinions but what I feel keeps me consistent.

Aha! Not for me, thanks.

Not if you knew what "ride to the pool room" means for this guy. Last time I met him at a pool room, it was noon, and he said he just got off his bike (bicycle, not motorcycle) after a refreshing little 50 mile ride. Made me feel nice and healthy, having just rolled out of bed after a night of drinking.

Pool

I usually don't plan my meals around Pool, just that I eat what I feel like a little ahead of playing. Trying to eat and shoot can be a real bother sometimes, especially if the food is a little greasy.

I have always used caffeine as a boost at times, especially for long playing sessions. When I was younger, I would down 3-4 Cokes in a row to get a caffeine boost. I drink lots of Coffee anyway, 2 12 cup pots in the morning, I am an old Navy man.

The only thing I would go out of my way to take before a big important tourney, is Ginseng and Ginko Biloba. I am convinced that they help with 'clarity' of the mind, which helps you get 'in the zone' much faster and for a longer period of time, Usually taken 2-3 hours before a tourney starts.

My Mom has a Ginseng tree right off of her apartment back patio. It has 'fan' shaped leaves and is very full and thick. Something you may not know is that the Ginseng tree is the oldest living tree known to man. In China, there are Ginseng trees more than 3,500 years old.
The Ginseng tree has one main trunk until it is about 100 years old, then the trunk splits in multiple trunks, becoming much larger than it was before.

Very, very interesting.

The other night I played in an 8 ball tournament, round robin race to 2 format. One fellow who is always hyper, although he just seems to be that way all the time, probably his personality, breaks and runs the first rack. My break... he slug racks me, the result is a few balls break loose, but there's an awful mess where the rack was. I said something like "Nice rack" and someone asks if we're playing one-pocket. My opponent immediately asks if I want a re-rack, and starts insisting on a re-rack, but I tell him no, it's ok, it was a legal break, let's play it. What does he do then but rake all the balls towards himself to re-rack. Then I said loudly for all to hear, hey, you lose, you forfeit for doing that, and I asked the TD if that was right. It was, and so now we're hill-hill, and he racks them again and tells me to break the balls, to which my reply was, no, you lost the last game, you break the balls. He called me some unmentionable names, which I just ignored, but others didn't. He was so teed off, even though I wasn't trying to do that to him. I just played at my normal pace, which set him off even more.

Although he ended up winning the game, I learned about setting someone like that off. Pretty easy to do...

Oh, and back on topic, I play better when I'm hungry. I like to eat lunch at 1:00 or 2:00, then get to the pool room around 6:00 after work, play all night, and wolf down anything and everything in the fridge when I get home at 1:30 or 2:00 AM.
