Personally most annoying thing in pool.

Is when people that don't know you ask to hit balls with you for fun...

I actually like this when it happens. But I'm a pretty gregarious chap and I like to meet new people. To each their own.

I do not enjoy playing pool and having constant chatter that leads to slow play. It's ok to hit me up for a game. But play the game, don't just ramble. I like the interaction, but I do like the game to proceed at a normal pace.

Easy solution to this is to just start shooting again.

When he says, "Hey I thought it was my shot" say back to him, "Yeah I thought about it, and decided to enforce the shot clock" He wont let that happen twice, and probably won't be upset if you play by these simple rules...

Make sure you do not run the entire game from there, or he will be upset. If you play a safe or just miss, he will smile.

I like this one. Two minute shot clock from now on. : )

But, if this same guy asks me to play again I'm just going to say, "No, you talk too much."

The best part about all these things that drive us crazy on the pool table is when we learn not to let them bother us we have arrived as pool players.

Super hard to do and I work on it everyday. At one point every single thing that happened around the pool table annoyed me. This basically meant only one thing, I needed to improve my focus. If we truly focus on what we are trying to do the mind will shut out all distractions. Our mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy. The great thing about this is only one person controls your mind.

THINGS:

Tournaments that do not start on time.

Tournaments Directors that let LATE ARRIVALS get in a Tournaments, an the Late Arrival get BUYS.:mad:

Tournaments that Advertise Added money, and then the Advertised Amount Don't get Added.

Pool Room with filthy nasty bathrooms, and No paper towels.

People who talk when they need to be shooting.
People who get powder on the rails, balls, etc.
Billiard balls that need desperately to be cleaned.
People trying to teach when they aren't qualified.
Owners who charge for tap water.
People who try to pretend there's no sand-bagging in the APA.

One of the more annoying things for me is when you are playing with a guy that doesn't just take his seat after he misses but instead wants to hover around the table. For playing one pocket this may be OK but otherwise it should be butt in the chair if you're not shooting.

I learned a good way to counteract this behavior while playing league, which is often in a tight space. I take a little walk around the table while surveying the table. Most people will see that I'm about to walk where they're standing and will sit down or back up to get out of my way. Some people will stand there until I actually say excuse me, or in some cases I'll bump into them gently and then the next time they will move. One time, a guy started walking the other way around the table, so I switched directions. (sigh)

Filthy tables and balls that haven't been cleaned in 2 weeks and still get charged full price on time????????? Don't get it.

The people talking to you gets me as well. I cannot talk and play well at all. What people don't get is your paying the time to have conversations with them. Don't get that either.

Humidity! Hate it in the poolroom. Turn the air down please! When your underwear is sticking to your butt because your sweating so bad it is rather ridiculous. Plus the table changes so much that it really effects my game. I really have trouble playing in a hot poolroom.

A poolroom that has terrible cheap racks that simply will not ever freeze the balls. This compounded by the guys you shoot against don't understand or simply don't give a Sh$t about giving you a good rack. I can solve this quickly enough myself but sometimes you just don't want the headache.

People who aren't playing pool or even interested in pool crowding my playing area. Especially in bars during pool league, I get tired of saying excuse me while I'm trying to shoot.

Maintaining focus while this is going on is a challenge in itself.

There are a couple of people I play with at my local room and most of the time I decline if I'm by myself and someone I don't know asks if I want to play. Today I was practicing by myself, had already been doing that about 4 hours, and I made the dumb mistake of saying OK when some guy asked if I wanted to play some 8-ball.

This guy spends at least 20 minutes talking for every 5 minutes of pool playing even when I keep telling him it's his shot. He can't talk and shoot at the same time. When it's his shot that's his cue to walk up to the cueball and start talking. Jesus wept!
For me, missing!

I get super annoyed when I'm playing someone who thinks they can play but is actually playing slop pool. This is kinda like the guy who bangs around balls and pretends he meant a certain position or meant that 15 rail bank. If I slop in a ball or safe someone by accident I am always apologetic to my opponent.

If I get a good roll...... I feel I deserve it.
I get my share of bad ones.
If I piss a ball, I am just going to smile or may not even acknowledge it

Everyone gets a lucky roll once in a while or slops in a ball once in a while. This is just the nature of the game. My issue is when these players are super excited and act like it was all intentional and brag about how good they are. It just grinds my gears!!! :D

You guys meed to work on your focus.

Never said it hurts my game, just that I find rudeness annoying. I play in a league and there are all kinds of distractions; people walking by )including wait staff) while your down on the shot, talking, loud music, yada yada. None of that really bothers me. But when my opponent exhibits rude behavior then yes, I find that annoying. Truth be told, it probably makes me focus more because now I REALLY want to beat him. :D

Played a girl, league, who used red chalk and she always set it upside down.
The entire table was covered in red. From her previous games and then ours.

I excused myself to the washroom and came back with a wet paper towel and wiped the rails down. I mentioned the upside down chalk and she took the hint. You lean over the rail to shoot and your T shirt is covered in chalk.

Cell phones have to top the list for me lately. I can fade most other distractions, depending on what mood I'm in (usually good). When my opponent gets a text and has to send one back before they shoot. Steam comes outta my ears.

Playing in one of our favorite bars, I've had opponents go for a dance or outside for a smoke without telling you.

People who put their coins on the table to challenge and go back to their table. If they are not there at the end of the game, I have someone else plug the table, whoever is next for a game or at least paying attention. I'm not a baby sitter and won't wander thru the bar to tell you that your game is up.

Of all the things I have read, this is the most annoying of all to me, also you put up your coins to play, your three games back, then it's your turn and someone jumps up putting in your coins saying it's their turn and there are No Coins left, so where did your coins go?, I mean, I wanna ketch fire on myself, annoyed!
