Pete Margo's Balabushka

I wonder why?

I guess I dont get it. Why would he EVER do that?

I was taking some lessons from Ray Martin and he said he was selling (2) Balabuskas. I know he sold one to a guy that flew in from overseas bought the cue, (I think with CASH), then the guy got on the next plane and flew back home.

I guess if someone gets on straights and needs money I can understand it. But I would never sell one otherwise.

35,000 starting bid. That's a lot for something that sits in a closet (or behind glass). It would be a few really nice vacations for Pete and the wife.

It's in mint condition, so I guess Margo never played much with it. Would the cue be worth more if it wasn't in mint condition but Margo had played with it a lot?

Margo's resume

Tate,
Thanks for posting and I hope he gets it. Margo has a list of high achievements that many cue collectors would enjoy talking about.

Ken, when did you take lessons from Ray Martin? I too took a few lessons from Ray at his house in Fla.

Hal

Yes me too. It was at his house he told me about the Balabushas. Ray Martin was very high on a local cuemaker, but I forget what his name.

I was vacation / visiting relation (wifes relation). Went to CM's Place in Medera Beach. Watched CM give Howard Vickery all he wanted in One-pocket.

My kind of vacation.

What a great Cue!!!!! It has those famous Busha wedding rings, and it appears to have a Burton Spain forearm.

I wish I had the money laying around, I would buy it hands down, this cue is a real sleeper and very fancy for a Balabushka, along with its back ground / providence, I would bet the cue ends up in Japan.

Thanks for the Update TATE and have a great day!!!!!!

CM's Place is in Seminole.:D Not far from the Beaches.

As far as Local Cue makers, Wayne Ball work's out of Robertsons Billiard Supply in Tampa, and I just found out about another local guy named Frankie Doodle (sp). A guy that work's with a local company that moves, sells and recovers Pool tables told me about him. I have never heard of him before.:)

next time you come down. let me know.:)

The way I look at it, is the guys are getting older and would like to see the
Cues go to a good home. They would rather have the money to live or play with before they pass. I am going to sell all my cues if I make it to
a really old age. I have had some of my Cues for 35 years and would like to see them go to a good home before I pass. These guys may be selling them on purpose also, many times when Family members pass away, relatives and surviving siblings get very Greedy over certain items.
My best friend for example had to move himself and his wife into his mothers house to protect his interest, cause she is very old and the dad had already passed away. The Greedy sister and her Husband were fighting
over the house already with the other sister.
