I see Simonis has a new shade of blue called Petroleum Blue. I cant find it on their website and when i google it i still cant find any samples or pics of it.

Anybody ever seen Petroleum Blue? Or perhaps know a link to it where i can see what it looks like?

Where is the 860 tournament green?

They just call it yellow green now as opposed to Simonis green. I dont hate the tournament blue as much as I used to, but it will never look right to me.... A pool table is supposed to have green cloth. :)

Not anymore' if you knew the science behind the color tournament blue you would look at it a different way.

While I can appreciate what youre saying, I don't care about the science of it. Whether its easier to see the balls, focus on the ball, play longer without eye fatigue etc etc etc. it means nothing to me.
Blue cloth has been been in vogue before for the same reasons it is now. Gold/tan cloth was touted the same for a period of time. Easier on the eyes, easier to see the edges of the balls etc etc etc.
Green cloth will be back some day. It always comes back.

I'm another that doesn't care about the science of it. No matter how many times I look at it it still looks wrong. I will always prefer green.

I agree. I like the tournament green. But the real reason I put the green on my table is because all the pool hall and bars I play at all have green. If they used the tournament blue, you could damn sure bet I would have the blue on my table.

I heard it's pretty slick.

I talked to an Optometrist friend of mine about the coloration on cloth and whether blue is better for visualization of objects (pool balls) or not. He gave me an interesting answer. Your eye acuity reacts less well to blue than to green. This is because of evolution. Man has been visualizing green and all shades thereof since the beginning of time. Mans eye is programed to visualize objects against a green background better that any other color. Other that the sky, blue does not appear enough in nature to pre program the eye genetically so as it to be easier to distinguish objects. It's also easier on the eye in terms of stress on focus. Now having said this, computer screens use a blue background with black lettering (for the most part) but that wasn't always the case. Early computers use a black background with white lettering. I would like our computer experts to chime in here and provide their take on this theory.

70% of the earth's surface is covered by water, no?
