PGA Player Mic'd Up/Pool Why Not?

I enjoy hearing the chat between the caddie/player in match play.... before Shot choice/then execution.
Awhile back I saw this PGA situation in Play/they may still do it, players are mic'd up and talking about their up coming shot as they walk to it.
I think it could work in pool, because I Know I talk to myself saying such.... ''make sure I stay on This side of my next ball/shot".
Or more concerning, take care of Whitey more than the shot.
I'd truly enjoy hearing what Gorst/or any great player, what he's saying to himself when he choses some of his shots.
Often the cue ball placement is waaaaaay more important than the shot and often allot more is going on than just those two concerns.

It's def been done in pool over the years. Mosconi cup does it some years. I believe some TAR matches had it. There is even the old Danny Dileberto vs Ronnie Allen One-Pocket action match.

Can't hurt to try.
Be neat listening to a mic'd up player in the final sixteen at the US Open in TX this coming August.

I'm not talking about missing.
Their mindset before shot execution.
Never heard a PGA player swear/bitch live when they were intentionally mic'd up.
So you think Souquet would bitch. lol

Here is a fun verbal exchange from the one pocket match mentioned above. 58:21 time stamp. Link should take you right there if on a computer. IDK about mobile.

I agree.
Watched this one the other day.

A pool version would be cool
  • Shotgun Mics (Primary Method): Highly directional shotgun microphones are the standard method for capturing audio on a golf course. These are operated by audio technicians ("A2s") near tees and greens, and sometimes mounted on cameras to pick up the sound of a club hitting the ball or conversations from several yards away.

My pool mentor told me many times, the casual observer of a pool game watches the balls being shot in the pockets, the knowledgeable observer watches where the cue ball goes. Take care of whitey. During my educations, nothing was more frustrating than putting Whitey right where I wanted him....or close....and missing the damn shot.

For this to happen, pro pool players would need to be sentient beings, instead of robots. In a 1v1 match, they rarely ever say anything to each other or to themselves, so microphones would be pointless.

If they had more personality, then it would attract more viewers to the game, but let's be real, they are boring as fk. I would love a face-off between 2 players before the finals of a US Open with them needling each other, but it will never happen. Pool is too sterile.

So on tour the PGA players are only doing it between shots and there's loads of downtime walking to it. I doubt any player would agree to talk about a shot during their preshot routine or actually hitting it and that's essentially what would have to happen for it to be interesting in pool. No chance in hell anyone (competing at a high level) would be talking shots during their turn at the table.

Best way to get this is with "player review" videos after the fact. I've seen a few FANTASTIC ones of those by some 3C players. Would be cool to see it in pool too.

Brought back a memory so I found the match. Remember at times hearing a lot of breathing.

I need clarity. I’ve watched many many matches where the the players were mic’d up. It was always a challenge as the microphone, which was often clipped to the shirt, would get rubbed by the cue stick.

Is it a certain discussion you want to hear from the player like make them do self commentary?

All of these were player-mic’d as were several throughout the 90’s. Some of the players were naturally going to speak more (e.g. Mataya, Sigel). There are many more examples on youtube for sure.
