Phenolic tip or ferrule??

RZA told me, in BCA, both are illegal on your break cue. Both are fine on your jump cue.
I heard a few days ago that the BCA and the VNEA were not going to allow any one piece phenolic tip/ferrule's sometime in the future.

I know this has been going on & on, but it is still legal to use a Phenolic ferrule with a leather tip, ???Thanks for the help

The BCA rule is just an enforcement of the current WPA rules that say that the tip cannot damage the equipment.
Basically, on a break cue, the only thing that can contact the cue ball is leather. Phenolic ferrules, with a leather tip, don't contact the cue ball, so that is fine.
Jump cues don't matter as they don't hit hard enough to damage the cue ball.

Royce has it correct. You can have a phenolic ferrule but you have to have a leather tip on top of it. I use a phenolic ferrule and the Samsara Break/Jump tip and, to me, it's way better than a phenolic tip ever was. The hit is almost identical but I can control the cue ball much, much better. I can even control it on my jump shots now!
